I recall a nice personal moment when I received two simultaneous offers on a bike that I advertised. One being for my asking price and the other a 30% er from the Co under discussion.

Was so nice to be able to write back and say thank you for the offer but the bike was sold at the asking price 😇

Hello Prince Albert, thanks for chiming in. I have had a similar experince myself, there is often a comforting sense of justice in those moments.

Yes Murrob, it’s remarkable how many people I am uncovering on Bikehub and privately that are truly upset by James and his organization and their exploitative practices.

YOu are having a laugh, surely?

are folks truly upset by a low ball offer, do they run to their safe spaces and therapists?

exploitative practices? are you high?

No guns being held to heads, no forced sales. Just adults with the ability ( presumably ) to say no and have a nice day.

Sure, their offers can be annoying. But seriously, if it boils your blood then that’s on you. I would never sell to them, I have bought from them and have only positive things to say about the experience.
This happens in all markets, business is business. Every reseller in any market segment does this, it’s how they put food on their table’s. You can’t hate on them for that.

Just ignore them if it’s such an evil.

I'm reiterating what has already been said on this site, on this forum, in the ratings and by so many others.

I am not high at all, niether require a therapist, nor need to run to safe spaces.

No need to get personal.

I find the last sentence a lil out of kilter given the personal attacks on James and his exploitative practices.

we are adults, adults deal with low balls by ignoring them or responding civilly in the negative.

I am very concerned that I am agreeing with @IceCreamMan on something....

The lowball offers are shameless yes, but its not against the rules & and he is not breaking any laws. I don't think lowball offers are something that should or can be policed. If you don't like the offer - ignore and move on.

New to the internet?

I did not acuse (sic) you of anything. Spot the question mark.

Bro Derek, you are entitled to your view of this being, "incredibly dramatic", but clearly to many, this is upsetting otherwise we would not have the level of response that we and I personally have had. As a point of correction, "selling and buying", for some, can be a hugely emotional experience as I have witnessed on numerous occasions of both, extreme joy and distressing grief. I have also witnessed how people in states of absolute desperation have parted with much loved possesions including bicycles, because they have felt that there was no alternative option. These people have on occasion been exploited by company's who promise to offer, "a market related price", which is sometimes anything but, as is the case here with BikeMarket as can be witnessed with so many other voices on this thread. That's really at the nub of this its merely just about creating an awareness of my and others experiences, that is afterall a part of what this site, our communities participation and these forums are intended for.

So if someone is in a desperate financial situation and they advertise their bike for 30k because they are desperately needing money they are selling their possessions.... BM comes along and says, here, take 10k....

The desperate person says 'oh my gosh, I really need that!' accepts the offer and is then upset that they sold their bike for less than they wanted and it's the buyers fault?

I am really struggling to grasp the concept of exploitation and deviousness that you are painting.

I used to have a bit of a drinking problem and in India I once paid the equivalent of like 6000zar for a really crap bottle of whisky at 2 in the morning so I could keep the party going.

I woke up in the morning thinking that the problem was me, not the person who gained from my issues.

BikeMarket don't have any idea who people are or what they are going through. They LowBall EVERYONE equally. You're making out as if they prey on people in a desperate situation but they don't. How would they know?

It seems some people you know were forced into a corner through no fault of BM, accepted an offer and afterwards cried foul as they feel they could have received more and suddenly it's personal?

If you're in a corner and have to sell stuff, either accept what you get or do some research on what it's worth and stick to it until you sell it. The latter may not be an option so really it's moot.

Seems a crusade against a perceived evil that doesn't exist unless you really want to believe it exists.... I suggest a sigil with a white background and a red cross!

I don't though... I am still really confused over the Crusade

Those selling low knowingly are the ones with the problem, not BM
