I am waiting for it to hit Sportsmans warehouse, I want my discount.

edit: I will have a 520 on sale very soon at a good price.

100% - if you can nothing beats the discounts from the medical aids.

that 840 really looks nice.

not sold on the solar though - the battery is more than big enough already to handle huge rides. i'd rather have the slightly brighter screen

Is it worth this amount🤔

if it were reliable then i'd say yes.

the fact that they seem to need constant warranty replacements is the reason i ride with a 130 Plus unit. cheaper running costs when things go wrong.

Its to expensive to replace the bigger units each year or so - even at the reduced Garmin rates when outside of warranty.

Thread revival.

I will be upgrading from my very old and trusty 520 shortly.
I am looking at either the 540 or the 840. From the specs and reviews I’ve read, seems the only difference is the touch screen.

Is the extra couple grand worth it just for the touch screen?

If you  have learnt the ways of navigating a Garmin device woth buttons, no. If you have not, and are impatient with learning unintuitive UI, then yes
