exact same thing happened to my 6 & I got offered the 7x Pro Solar which I accepted without hesitation. Charge probably once a week for my high activity level, it's just to keep it toped up as I'm in the mountain a lot now & use the map feature a lot.. I could push it out to 2 weeks if needed to. I cant imagine anyone needing a longer battery life unless you are touring for multiple days with no access to electricity. I've done a single activity with the 7 that lasted 39 hours using the map for navigation, was pretty impressed that I didnt need to recharge once.

do they still offer the replacement at a discounted price?

my fenix 3 is off to garmin this week. Freeze frames and everything slow and sometimes hanging. Holding thumbs for a good deal alt it is back to my trusty xt 920 which still refuses to die despite being more than 10 years old.

I have found a place here that replaces batteries and such. Going to take my 3 there and hope for the best. The Garmin shop here is not really interested in helping me and they don't have what I want in stock so I hope my watch survives the surgery.

WOW!! Thats pretty impressive!Ā

Just a follow-up on this - I checked my watch before a run yesterday and was a little alarmed when the battery was at 19% (as I am with any device, if I'm intending on using it for a few hours). However, that 19% translated to an estimated 17 hours of running with GPS and an external HRM.

as expected my 5y/o fenix 6 was "irrepareable"

I sent it to them on 23 July, and got offered a fenix 8 amoled (47mm), which arrived yesterday.

yeah I was expecting nothing less either, at least you are set for the next 3-5 years. Cost, R5000 & they keep you old watch?

R7200 and they kept the old device, which was useless to me in any case. It can be an admin issue depending onthe garmin agent and moonphase, but it's worth it.
I paid R6k for my fenix6, with this upgrade I'm R13k in for a device that retails between 18 and 24k, #notkak

Wonder if I could go the same route with my 3? Glad you got sorted! I have always had good service from Garmin SA.Ā

they probably will. I've gone this route a few times and only once have they messed it up but then ended up getting a much better device (they lost my wife's vivoactive 3 and replaced with a fenix6s pro)

Garmin coming for Apple Watch / Samsung Galaxy's lunch?

Watching DCR's review, says no for me. But I'm sure some peeps will buy into it.

Gone are the days of (only) bicycles costing the same as a small second hand car, now your sports watch costs the same.

The Marq is already north of R40k:wacko:

Garmin F8 satellite and LTE coverage maps do not include South Africa right now....

https://www.garmin.com/en-US/connectivity/fenix8pro/coverage/

Its uses LTE-M (mobile)...not available in SA

The satellites used are geostationary as opposed to low orbit ones that are used by the inReach Messenger type devices...

So it looks like for now, this version is not much use for Saffers or anyone want coming to Souf Afrika!...I may be wrong but that's from their coverage page....

Ā

All much like the iPhone with satellite feature...not available in SA
