So why do any PPA seeding events ?

Last time they get one cent from me.

Come on Chris,…. The situation is not ideal at the moment. This is the last seeding event before The Funride World Championships for professional funriders.

we can’t have anything influencing the results. The bookies will take scalpels if e-bikes take the B group win again

Stuff the bookies 🤪

Sure, even CTCT restricts ebikes to a maximum starting group.  Keeping a safe distance between the ebikes and the racers halfway around the route by then.  But at least each rider then rides with his level, as good as any seeding can achieve.

Blanket "start at the back" ... cycling industry have matured beyond that .... clearly PPA has not.  Los n bitter smaak in die kiewe.  I enter a seeding event, but my current seeding counts ZERO ....

Emotional rant over .... my seeding should have seen me start in G or H (still way too far back to influence the race).  That is some 6 or 8 minutes earlier .... 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Now to see who rocks up for this race .... am I about to navigate traffic to move up 10 or 15 spots .... OR .... is this the junior racers that will dissapear around the corner while I try to start my Garmin ... 🫣

Don't think of it like you're starting at the back. More like you have your own ebike race and you're in the first group which, in this case, happens to be the last group as well.

Oom ChrisF

Weird race in B batch

Girl swerving all over the place from the start, starts slowly pushing me off into gravel. I put my hand on her shoulder to let her know im on her left and to leave some room. Tells me 'dont ever touch me again ' - 10 minutes later shes screaming hysterically while getting dropped on a climb.

Some full white kit zeus looking guy doing S maneuvars off the front with his phone out taking a video of himself.

A german guy (i think) trying to breakaway and drafting the moto

All in all 7/10 🤣

There were a lot of dodgy wheels in B. Also a lekker coffee ride at 21km/h once we turned into the wind 😂

Sprint got very messy at the end, decided it wasn’t worth the risk and rolled in

The start official chirped Breyton Paulse on the start line that he was going to have to pull D batch the whole way. "Why not?" he said. As it was he didn't, a little group of riders that I think were seeded higher and had a late start came sprinting past us before we got to the first turn and he jumped on the back of them and disappeared.

So much for neutral zone. Not that I blame them - if I had the watts I would have joined.

D mooched along at a comfy pace. As usual we let ourselves down with careless riding - I think 2 riders went down. I dodged a bottle that the rider in front of me lost on the speedbumps. If I was Geraint I would have hit it and gone down in the neutral zone, if I was MvdPoel, I would have bumped it back into the guy's bottle cage with my front wheel.

As it is I'm a Mamil so I just thanked my lucky stars, came out of the corner 50 meters behind the wheel and went anaerobic to catch up.

Shook my head and bit my tongue as rider 400 (having sucked wheel for 103,4km) yelled "Go go go" and swung wide onto the right hand side of the road on the last little riser before the finish. Clearly the man needed to pick up 15 places.

Predictably he had to pull back in because there were cars coming down the hill and needed to find room to do so amongst all the anoxic slightly-too-high-BMI dad bods that comprises the bulk of D. And predictably that sent a little mini-concertina back down the bunch.

Curmudgeonly shaking of my head at my fellow man aside, I enjoyed the ride - expertly marshalled by the motorbikes who I think do a sterling job resisting what I can only imagine is a powerful urge to dish out a p@#klap to the the wannabes who feel the need to risk it all into oncoming traffic.

I don't think the gentle pace of 33kmph did my seeding any good but hey ho.

I do enjoy these fun rides despite the fact that I have not ridden in one where there hasn't been a crash somewhere around me in quite a while now.

Two okes from D did catch B as we turned onto Adderley. Same guys who dropped from $ to % at 99er , just out for some fun😂

One of the A bunch riders started in D.

Raced up to finish in B.

Then came back some 10km to find his buddies, and ride to the end with them.

Hold on a moment...there seems to be a weird correlation here but I'm struggling to figure out what it could be 😉
