Does anyone know why it is so hard to get hold of Signal kids bikes these days? Most shops just state - out of stock (for a while now). Has Signal stopped selling kids bikes?
Can the hubbers please recommend alternatives that offer disc brakes and trigger shifters as standard for 24 inch?

Titan Racing bikes are the go to for kids bikes at the moment.

Avalanche is available, but more expensive.

Various known brands have kids bikes, different price range.

Have not seen Signal in any bike shop for some time.

Jip, been spending toooo much time in bike shops the last few weeks 😋

I second Titan Racing

I spent quite a bit of time in bikeshops over December looking for a 24" as Christmas gift. My son had outgrown his 20".

If you can splurge a bit, the Titan Racing Team is probably the best 24" bike on the market at relatively sane price level.

One thing that struck me when doing Christmas bike hunting is it seems like the entire industry drastically lowered the bar for what you get for your money. When I bought my son's 20" bike 3 years ago it came with hydro formed frame, internal cabling,  hydrolic disks etc.  For the relative same money now,  you get mechanical brakes, coils spring fork etc..

Thank you all, yes noticed the same whilst bike hunting. Maybe the industry realised that size 24 bikes are short use bikes.

I really liked the bright colours of the Signal kiddies bikes - it however seems that production of these products have been paused for some unknown reason.

Thank you for the alternative recommendations.

Not sure where you are based. I saw some Signal kids bikes (think the 24" models) at Bridge Cycles in Southern Suburbs, Cape Town. Maybe give them a call.

Otherwise, Yes, Titan Racing make great kids bikes. I would suggest try and avoid the grip shift if possible. Avalanche have just released a new range of bikes that look pretty good and are a big upgrade over the previous ranges. No personal experience, but they look quite nice.

Hope you are able to find what you are looking for.

Have you considered buying second hand and the rebuilding it ?

You can have it painted to your preverance, even upgrade parts as you may want.

Very rewarding project.

But costs can easily exceed a new bike.... if you let it ....

We went this route with the 26".  Excellent learning curve for the youngster.

The reason being is the brand Manager for Signal bikes has moved over to a different company and is now the brand Manager for a different bike brand in SA.

Because of this I think they couldn't get the ball rolling to place orders at the factory in a good time frame

Nothing to do with the brand manager. It’s down to the product/technical manager.
Their supply chain is likely tied to different orders and time frames. Afaik Rush have been taking in a steady supply at their warehouse. Obviously different brands will have different numbers depending on market share.

As in 24inch wheels?
Seen some Signal/Apex bikes at Xciter Rosebank recently. Perhaps you’ll have some luck there.
Trailwolf Cycles also have some Titans on the floor, and possibly Signal as well. I know they recently did a sweet build of a new Titan for one of their regulars.

Other than these two brands there’s also some really good local offerings from Avalanche, Zini, Silverback and Momsen.

edit: as aside, for a lot of LBS ventures it’s a balancing act in carrying stock in this segment. Sometimes bikes fly out the door, and then other times stock just sits. Which can be difficult given how quickly designs change (colour etc) As well as contending with the large retail franchises carrying similar stock and brands, albeit often poorly assembled.
