I did two with them, no issues. But I know of one of the elite ladies was told to take it off by the csa rep a few years ago.so maybe they turn a blind eye to us regular folk

I have inner bar ends - wonder if I'll be DQ'd when I come in on the 50th percentile

I rather think that the SQLabs inner bar ends are not what CSA, etc, think of as inner bar ends, but rather CONVENTIONAL MTB (longer) bar ends RELOCATED to the middle of the handlebars; I may be wrong, but this is my understanding…

(meaning these ‘thumb grips’ cannot be used as a lay-on mini-aero bar, whereas regular MTB bar ends in middle of handlebars can be used more as an aero ‘rest’…)

Well, some context for the newbies .... you WON the half-36one ....

You two doing the full this year ?

Sadly not this year @ChrisF, neither of us have had the time available to put in the amount of training required to defend that title and we don't want to just make up the numbers.
Besides, 12 months isn't enough for me to recover mentally & emotionally from 180km's of pain & suffering from racing with that animal 😅

I raced with those SQLab inner bar ends last year (well the Temu knockoffs 😊). I can't see what the issue will be with them because you can still reach your brakes comfortably with your 3 outer fingers on each hand while in them and still have full control of the bars?

I've only ever did the half, and that in the mud.

Was lots of fun 😁, the ride was most definitely not 'sister-like' (whatever that might mean)
Did some/all of the folling:
freezing my backside off,
dodging the mud being slung into my face from my front wheel,
putting my glasses away because I could actually see better through caked lashes than muddy glasses.
scraping mud & rocks off my wheels with a stick
Ended up riding from coffee station to coffee station

the 10km neutral zone to the start for the event might well have been my fastest flat 10km of the day

Think I'll hold out for another muddy year... or maybe next year, but then with drop handles!
