I noticed this today. I have done a total of 5  rides in these shoes. My rides are short so it would be around 50km if that much.
I had a pair of impact pro before these and they also pulled loose like this but after 6 years and the pins ate through the soles…

I’m anticipating warranty issues as I live in the middle of nowhere and I got these off of Amazon in feb.
But flip man.

My sons new Adidas tekkies also started pulling loose like this so not sure what is going on there. But I’m pretty miffIMG_2442.jpeg.c1fdb2204ee208e4d765d829a117dde3.jpegIMG_2441.jpeg.b3867d4cf4fca294f119dc48b6bac564.jpeg

Dude my Leatt 4.0 Clipless did the same, quality is not quality anymore. I would suggest taking them to Barksole, they will sort you out and the will make sure it doesnt happen again!

You say you got them off Amazon. First question that comes to mind: Are they genuine 510s? There’s a lot of fake stuff on Amazon, so just curious.

Not sure dude. When I scan the qr code on the show it takes me to the Adidas www. Sent them a mail so let’s see.
But I’m assuming I will end up glueing them back together. But it is poef man.

Nothing beats the old Impacts... as a lifetime flat pedal rider I've tried virtually every model / variant of 5.10 as well as Fox, Crank Brothers and most recently Ride Concepts. They all have their quirks and perks, but 5.10 is still the benchmark.

But as you've noted here... they definitely aren't what they used to be, and it seems that since the Addidas takeover models are dropping away too - no more Impacts as an example.

Those Impacts were bomb proof. Only when I hot these did I realise how heavy they were to. Like a brick on each foot 😂 Except for the sole issue these feel lekker on the pedal.

I read somewhere that since the Adidas acquisition, they use eco friendly adhesives and other materials, which is part of the reason why they aren't as reliable. Remember, the Man wants you to buy new ones every year rather than every 6. I guess as we know, the best materials, chemicals for the job also usually are the worst kind for the environment.

I have addidas versions of the freeride pro as well as hellcat and my soles are still attached after 2 years. I will say though that the quality isn't great. My hellcat soles around the cleat box are basically non existent. The rubber just comes off in chunks. The freeride pro’s are still going strong but they have a super annoying slipping tongue issue that has me re-lacing them halfway through every ride.

lets just say I’m glad i got both sets on half price sales😅

Just get specialized 2fo. They are super close in feel and the quality is better imo. Local warranty too.

Just CHECKING you do USE the tongue loop (also called the Keeper loop)?

Yes lol. But it’s an elastic one..and too stretchy..and basically doesn't do anything. I might try some other laces. The hellcats have a velcro strap at the top which goes over the knot…the tongue doesn't slip on those…and they are basically the same shoe.

I was expecting this reply from them but it still stings... I would have to send them back to the US which would make it cheaper for me to just buy a new pair. Not that I am, I'll glue them.

I was hoping they would say something to the tune of sending them somewhere here in Asia, I mean I'm sure there must be a spot around here that would be able to handle this.

Any way. Going to be relocating again soonish so hopefully wherever I end up there is a shop with options and I don't have to online shop.

If you have them re-glued. Insist that they use a heat-activated glue. It will last much better than any normal contact adhesive. There is also a special sewing machine /gadget that can actually stitch right through the sole and attach the 510 rubber layer to the rest of the shoe sole (after the shoe is made). Barksole here in Cape Town used to do that for my flyfishing boots when the soles detached and it really works.

I have had my doubts about the 510 rubber ever since 510 was bought out by Adidas. 510 used to sell their rubber to anyone and you could buy it and put it on any boot you wanted. But Adidas does not do that, they use it exclusively for their own shoes. Other than the flat pedal shoes, the 510 rubber is incredibly good at sticking in wet and slippery conditions like wading trout streams. That really gives them a proper workout and I have always been impressed with how well the real 510 rubber lasts. Other manufacturers have tried, but I have not come across one that came up with a rubber that is as good on slippery surfaces and hard-wearing at the same time. It really is black magic!

I've done similar repairs on hiking shoes with ShoeGoo, and it's still holding. Comparing ShoeGoo to Pratley WondaFix, ChatGPT says:

ShoeGoo: Designed specifically for shoe repairs, so it's long-lasting under regular use, rain, and wear.

Wondafix: Excellent durability if used on static or non-flexing parts. Over time, flexing joints may weaken.
For resticking a sole, especially where flexibility is key, ShoeGoo is your better bet. Pratley Wondafix is a powerful general-purpose adhesive, but it's too rigid for most soles unless the part you're gluing doesn't bend.
