LOLWatched the 94.7 on video (after getting home from the local "Klein Joostenberg" where is also rained!).

Mostly the elites men, but what a superb race is was up the front with extreme tactics going on in a 7 man breakaway and the tv work was good except:

Andrew just could not keep his mouth shut about the Microsoft guys - even when the camera was on a different team, he was still woffling on about Nick or Danny or Malcolm. Really, he might be getting some kickback from ms but he doesn't have to make it so blatent. He would have done ms a big favour by taking part himself so that viewers didn't have to suffer his biassed comments! Fortunatley Phil and Paul were able to level things out a bit and advise us that Barloworld and others (like Peter Vellits!) were also taking part, and in fact, doing a good job of destroying the ms team!

I, and I am sure many others were so relieved when ms didn't feature in the top 3 despite their apparent dominance, as this resulted in a stunned silence from Andrew and a subsequent balanced commentary/interviews.

Again though - excellant racing and good tv visuals.

Did you see they had a second broadcast at 14:00 as well. I believe there will be a package later with all the highlights.

I really enjoy seeing all the guys at the back of the field, they always seem to be enjoying themselves (unlike some more serious riders). They interviewed one black guy who said it was his second time on the bike - yesterday to practice and the race today Clap. They all said they will be back next year.

found it a bit boring watching only the pro's & the women.  what about the other racing groups?  saw a motorbike with us for the first stretch on the highway & then nothing!

also feel that they could show a lot more of the backmarkers.

Couldn't agree with you more Old Dog, MS seems to be the only Team in the SC Camp.... same thing happened at Liberty Crit.... but what satisfaction for Minolta, the underdog Team to pull the win, followed in order of appearance in the break by Excel and BW.... VIVA Minolta...... (Not at all biased....) I see that even you are confused.... it was MARTIN and not Peter in the Break.... and even long after the win, they, including P&P were saying Peter, oh well, at least we saw it live.

Would like to say how much better the TV coverage was for AmaShova. No Breaks, or back to the studio, and no rubbish in between, but commentry was rather poor.

Thanks never the less, for bring cycling home to us today, and may Minolta have a great celebration, and good luck to the Velits Twins in their move up the ladder next year.... I will be watching out for you.

Yolandi..... WOW..... you really put the SA Ladies to shame. I would have stopped the race, and given them a talking too about racing.... surely they should be racing... Cut the price Money, and then we will see some action. I think Proline's Managers comment was rather bad for a Pro Team.... we are not doing the chasing.... so why the hell are you racing, sorry riding?

Ladies, you need to go overseas and toughen up.

I take a bow to you John R.... a tough year, well managed, and a fantastic end to 2006. (T hope you are feeling better.... proud of you my boyx)

I agree with proline on proving the point of that they are always chasing brakes and had enough of it, BUT they choose a wrong race to do it.

There are a couple of teams in ladies racing and still in all the races proline and certain individuals do the chasing to pull bake the brake aways.

They should have done this on a smaller race before the big event and at least then there could have been some good racing on a race like this!!

Yip, I agree with the manager of Proline as well, let the other teams work a bit as well, at least Yolandi had a great ride and a great win.

Who recorderd the race from 05:30? Looking for a copy... Michelle thought she recorded it but from what it looks like she recorded that late night porn cr@p on E-TV. *Sigh*...woman...

I'll swap you the porn for a tape of some dude in TCS kit with a Cervelo and Zipps picking himself up off Witkoppen Road Wink.

Nah sorry only joking, I didn't tape it, just saw it on the Highlights in the afternoon. How's the knee?

Crappy bad luck you have been having especially as you were doing so well. Oh well there's always next year.

yes. andrew mclean was pretty embarressing when he kept interrupting the others (espec the last 5k) and thinking he knew more than anyone else about everything..should have just kept his mouth shut and then we could have heard p & p a bit more..anyway, at least owen was kept at the start line out of the way LOL

and how was arnie's 'joke' when he said the weather was like the pop goup - wet, wet, wet ~ WEAK

Hi

Comments on Andrew and Microsoft could not be further from the truth. Microsoft are the sponsors of Club 100 and are the strongest competition to Supercycling Cyclelab Club. It's just that MS are a really good and professional outfit and are the team many a youngster aspires to ride for.

Hello Guys,

The break was 11 riders, JP Pearton sitting on and went off just after halfway, leaving 10 riders, Velits, Hanco and Maaske sitting on not contributing [rightly so] so that left 3 Barloworld riders also not driving the break, this means Microsoft were by far the dominant team, 4 riders and they did 85% of the work in front. [Most of it being done by Danny and Nic] With the in-form Lange and Impey in the move with a very strong Nic White to look after them they were in a dominant position.

So yes if they are doing most of the racing then they will get more mentions.

However I see you guys complaining about the amount of exposure Microsoft got and you do not mention that I did say during the commentary that, often in cycling when a team is in as dominant position as Microsoft was yesterday, they end up loosing?

Had Konica Minolta had 4 riders in a 10 man break away they would have had the lion?s share of the exposure?

Anyway, I can assure you I am most certainly not bias to Microsft or any other team for that matter.

Andrew Mclean.
