TitusTi Posted November 23, 2006 Share The Crater Cruise? Isn't this just a road race on Mountain Bikes?
Spinnekop Posted November 23, 2006 Share Ya....was wondering about the Crater too......I think if it was up to the cyclists to decide, most of the results would have been different.....
TitusTi Posted November 23, 2006 Share Maybe the criteria are numbers and organisation? I wouldn't know I've never done it.
linnega Posted November 23, 2006 Share The criteria are funny for the races. A large weighting is given to "atmosphere". How that gets measured is beyond me. Would have thought the Sani2C would be a good bet for MTB race of the year given the rave reviews despite the ridiculously difficult conditions. TitusTi Posted November 23, 2006 Share That alone should make for a good criteria! Ridiculously difficult conditions, it's not a road race where everyone rides together until the end, we want to suffer, we need to suffer, we enjoy the suffering. That's the whole point, to cross the bloody line must be an achievement! Otherwise what's the point. (To quote Marvin).
Guest colonel Posted November 23, 2006 Share I know that DG did well at World and RH did the TDF, albeit being on a "Cheater" team but what did they do locally for the SA Cycling scene? I personally would of voted Malcolm Lange as Cyclist of the eyar as he has ripped everything apart locally and won more than others while still putting on a happy face infront of the cameras.
Duathlete Posted November 23, 2006 Share Colonel did you watch the Commonwealth Games road race where DG road in SA colours and came second??! I think both DG and RH deserve this title!
