Stretch Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 Finally got to watch Natalie Merchant in concert. I've been to a fair number of gigs now.. Some small some large. I've always had a preference for smaller gigs due to the intimacy. This one was an intimate one in a church with amazing acoustics but incredibly muggy. Without a doubt this was the best concert I have ever been to in my life. She absolutely captivated the audience for 3 hours. There was not a peep while she sang.. You could hear a pin drop. One person held up a camera in three beginning and she politely said.. We're here to enjoy a show not make a movie. Not another camera or phone was seen till right at the end while everyone tried to sneak a memory of the night. She was interactive, friendly, funny and charming. Above all the music was outstanding. It's gonna take a lot to top this night. Jealous. I also think, from my (admittedly limited) perception based on concert audio and videos, that Irish audiences are among the best in the world. And I think artists know this.
