Mardy on the other hand has its origins in Yorkshire, where it means uncooperative or sulky!

Great song but the phrase was definitely not coined by Alex Turner. Go to Sheffield or Leeds you'll hear it soon enough, often from the mouths of sulky Northeners who've never listened to the Arctic Monkeys: "When I were a lad" types. Aye lad It's grim oop North.

Correct, it's origins are in Yorkshire (like I said in post), Alex Turner (lead singer Arctic Monkeys) just made Southerners aware of the phrase by using it in their song, Ey up lad, want owt from t' chippy?
