what i like most about the fizik is that you can move up & down with comfort on the saddle due the the extra length.

motorpacing behind a tandem and you can move right to the front moving closer over the BB.  on hard climbs you can move right to the back allowing for more power on the downstroke.

with the selle italia you have one position and that is where you stay.

I tried the SI SLR Gel Flow and hated it.

I now have an Arione on my MTB and an Aliante on my road bike.

Different shapes but the width is the same.

Difference's of the Arione to the SLR GF are

Measuring from the widest point of the saddle;

Arione is 1cm longer from widest point forward

Arione is 3cm longer from widest point rearward.

I found a Flite to much more comfy than the SLR too.

i tried the aliante on saturday.... ouch ouch ouch. i'm gonna try the arione out asap. i've had my fi'zi:k [CP] pave since october 2003 and i love it to bits. i can spend many many hours a day on it no problem and i'm really upset that it got damaged in my crash (although i've coated the scratched/grauntched sections of the plastic edging with nailpolish and now it won't damage my shorts so maybe i will keep using  it despite the damaged leather....)

Good thing, I was about to change mine to "look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh"!

I raced my SLR until the cover started falling apart. Then pulled the cover (and padding) off and continued racing on just the bare shell. Did a double century on it no problem. Loved the saddle to bits. Then got an Arione on a new bike. Also a great saddle, but obviously not quite as light as the SLR. I think the Arione fits a wider variety of riders, but if you are one of the lucky ones who are comfortable on an SLR, then there is no reason to change.
