the shorts does'nt  Hav2B  an Assos. Nalini is just as good and alot cheaper !

Just as good? Then in your own estimation they aren't the same... I find Assos is King!

wonduhboy

& WAGLIO had some valuable input.

SLR to be removed from one bike & replace by arione.

seatpost to be lowered by 5mm - stats on web show the arione to be 5mm higher on the rails than the SLR.

SLR gel flow to remain on the other bike.

Dr Suess

I would recommend the following (works well for me):

Measure the length from the clipless to the top of the saddle along the seat tube. Let the crank arm be inline with the seat tube. Do this with you SLR first. Record the measurement. Also measure the tip (front) of the saddle to the top of the handle bars. I also measure the centre of the saddle post to the front of the saddle.

Then do the same wwith your Fizik saddle. You will get almost a perfect fit.

I will not just drop 5mm. Hope this helps.

I did the Selle Italia SLR for a year and could not get used to it.

With the Arione I can ride 6 hours without getting sore.

I am looking to get me one of these babies to try try out for the MTB.......
The old Flite saddles were STUNNING and I expect nothing less.

The 2007 Selle Italia Flite.

had enough of the the selle italia & got the fizik arione.

when i fit the arione do i have to lower my seatpost,  or are these two saddles close to the same height?

it is a bit difficult to judge by just looking at them,  and i do not have any precision measuring equipment.

same goes for the fore / aft position - do i just get the offset of the current center of the slr as opposed to the seatpost,  find the center of the arione & mount with the same offset?

i really don't feel like going through months of micro adjustments.

The distance from the top of your saddle to the middle of your bb must remain the same, measure from middle of bb and take tape measure along seat tube to top of saddle, mine is always 73.7 cm....

mmm - some nice advice coming in here.

main concern is the fore / aft position & it also seems that the SLR sags slightly when I sit on it.

have not changed the saddle yet - either tonight or tomorrow evening.

i ride with a slr, it's just the flex, the arione will also flex, that's their selling point

  • 3 weeks later...

I also migrated from the Sella Italia to a Fizik saddle. It took about 300 km to break the saddle in, but I am enjoying it allot more than the Sella Italia.

happy to report that the FIZIK is great - took a bit of adjustment,  but it seems 100% now.

had to lower the seatpost substantially to compensate for the height of the actual saddle - the fore / aft adjustment took some time.
