mmmmm ' date=' aaaaaah ok I say pull them ! maybe , just maybe one day you need to put a tube into that very worn tyre of yours and you gonna spend a few hours first removing the thorns ![/quote']

Listen to dirt-rider, he is a wise man. He also checks if his spare tube valve and pump is on the same frequency.

smiley14.gif This piece of advice was actually given to me by somebody else at Babaas on sunday . He also pulled a thorn outta his tyre and explained to me why he did it after I questioned his motives for wasting so much Stans !

Isn't this where one of those tubeless tyre repair kits comes in?

The tubless plugs can't repair all holes / cuts. And at some point using a tube is in the post.......

Sorry, I should have elaborated on my chain of thought.

I think it sounds like a good idea to pull the thorns. Because someday you going to be at the top of Babbas koppie with a flat, puffies closing in on all sides and you want to put a tube in quickly and get away.

So my thinking was, pull the thorns as part of you post ride / race clean up process, but have a plugs available at the time. Just incase Stans / Joes isn't up to the job.

Hey just get a grip on yourself ' date=' you a mtb'er and stuff likes snakes , crocs , no water or beer should not scare you !!!![/quote']

I have discovered recently (since starting to ride MTB) that I am extremely allergic to pain. I think loosing a limb to a croc or getting munched on by a puffie might be extremely painful. Therefore to avoid an extremely allergic reaction I need to stay clear of both! Big%20smile

Interesting point of view. Have never thought of it that way.

I still choose to leave them in. I dont think you will ever remove all your thorns as some you will not even see on the outside. If I had to put a tube in I think I would still need to check the tyre for thorns in case there is anything there that had not been pulled out.

Pulling thorns out for the rare occurence of putting a tube in (Watch Murphy get me on my next rideLOL) and thinking that I have a "safe" tyre is not something I would recommend.

Pull em out

If its a large one it will work itself loose anyway and piss latex all over my hairy legs.

On Sat picked up a large piece of wire which was clunking against my frame.Had to pull it out.Nice little fountain then sealed.

Dont pull them out. When your tyre is worn out one day' date=' you invert it, clean off the gob and count the number of thorns protruding on the inside.

Then put it all in a spreadsheet and calculate how much time and agony the sealant saved you.

I have a friend who found out the hard way - that trying to plug a hole when you had to put a tube in the last time your tubeless wouldn't seal, is not a good idea.

LOL
