protester Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 At 6:20 this morning a Cyclelab member was killed in a hit & run on Simonstown main road. He was cycling alone and found by friends & colleagues minutes after it ocurred. The occupants of a black Golf Polo are being sought in connection with this crime. There are reports that the same golf was "playing chicken" with a group of cyclists minutes earlier. This is obviously not an "accident". If you know of anyone who might have been cycling between Glencairn & Simonstown this morning and who might have been harassed by this vehicle please ask them to contact Insp. A group that arrived on the scene said that the Golf had just missed them a few minutes earlier at Glencairn. It really is scary. He was hit from behind. Just spoke to the cops. They are still looking for a young white male driving a Black VW Polo. He was driving erratically and they have reports from other cyclists of near misses with this vehicle between Muizenberg and Simonstown this morning. They have information that someone of his description "works on one of the ships". Apparently there are "cameras" in Simonstown and they are hoping to get a number plate. I recall a near miss with a black Polo at Froggy pond a few weeks ago. Probably the same f**ker! One of those bastards that gets as close as he can, for fun.
