2) Use the BBB goodie to create what looks like nice cable anchors for through-cable. However' date=' from what I can guauge here from my arm-chair, you'll still need to open up the holes in those cable guides. You'll need more than mere slots to get those bolts through.

You dont need to modify anything. Unscrew the small bolt and thread it back through the small end of the cable guide to that the jaws sit at the other end. Its all quite small and finicky though (2.5mm key) and you can't do it up too much otherwise you pull the washer through.

They dont sit very tight, and you still get flappy cables. They look slightly better than the zip tie option, but are quite a bit more expensive.

Brand-X also has a pair -  I saw them on CRC yesterday.

I use a system that also bolts into the cable stops but it is not adjustable. I got it from Westdene cycles but I do not know what brand it is. It looks something like this.

The topic of this thread is "Drilling cable stops......" In between the literature lessons and acid remarks by Hubbers...... ooooh!!!!!...... and the piccies from Momparra!!!!!!............ has anybody ever thought how in hell are you going to DRILL a cable stop that sits right next to the frame....... with a large chuck on the drill....... JB's option of FILING carefully makes sense though!!!!!!

Are those cable guides aimed more at hydraulic brake hose? Arent dear cables slightly thinner than that? ie they might not stay in that slot.

Modifying your frame in ANY way = NO warranty.
