Cajees is fine if you know what you want and have done your homework, as I mentioned somewhere else they wanted well over R1200 for a camelbak and I knew I could get it online for half of that, they only offered about R100 discount. The one at Princess is quite useful as they are open on a Sunday and we all know bikes like to breakdown over a weekend! I also like the one in Krugersdorp, they don't have much range/stock but the owner always helps me as much as he can, have been going there for years.

Then again the one shop that is closer to me was implicated in the price fixing so I try not to go there unless there is NO other choice.

I just recieved a quote from Cajees for a hanger for my Scott Genius 2009 - R 595.00! When I asked why so expensive they said it's discontinued - they sold me the bike 3 months ago...

That's just MAD!

If you are willing to wait 2 weeks for delivery, check if you can find it here...

Cajees sucks!

I only buy stuff from solomons in woodmead.

Achter is an absolute gentleman with a real good heart. Id give those guys the business any day of the week.

Must be honest, have'nt had too many pleasent experiences with bike shops in JHB. No one gives an objective opinion and just want your $$$$$

But the worst by an absolute mile are Cajees, wouldnt give those fools 10cents of mine

To come to Cajees defense:

1) I went to Boksburg Cajees first where I browsed for a 29er, I had to help myself around even though nobody else was in the shop and the Durban okes were checking me from behind the counter with a faak you face. Anyway, the price on a Scott Scale 29 Team was R15000.

2) A week later I was at Sportmans warehouse in Centurion and saw another Cajees store there... With zero expectation of any service, I walked in and got the best advice and service + discount without even asking!! The EXACT same bike for R10500!!

So Cajees Boksburg, thx for not trying to sell me a bike! ;)

Cajees are sharks, and no its not all of them but they are sharks in general, i went in to the bedfordview chop looking for a camelbak i had seen online for R600 odd, their price was R1499, when i asked why it was so expensive the guy told me that's what they cost and a discount of R100 was offered, on mentioning that sportsmans in the same centre had them at R1100 his price all of a sudden changed to meet it, that's when the stanger boy in me came out and i said well if you can drop it to match sportsmans give me a better price, to which his exact words that took my breath away were " that's the price if you don't like it go to sportsmans".

while i agree they can charge whatever they like i think the attitude towards their clients/ potential clients stinks, as has been pointed out argue with them and get a better price( not that its a good price) dont and get shafted with out even the decency of some lube.

while i am sure there are poepple who have had good experiences it seems the mantra for them is lets see just how much we can overcharge and get away with.

just my humble 2000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 zim dollars worth.

i used to support cajees and avoided cycle lab.

now i only suport cycle lab.

here's why - cajees used to be cheap, and cycle lab expensive, but things have turned around.

cajees have this attitude of "support us or p!ss off"

the client service at cycle lab is WAYYYYYYYY better and more friendly!!!<edited><editID>kamikaze</editID><editDate>2009-11-16 07:07:35</editDate></edited>

true that Cajees got no customer service they seem to stereo type when you walk thru there doors Not a friendly bunch to deal with

From my point of view:

1. Do your research on what you want to buy and what you want to pay.

2. Call around for quotes from local bike shops - ASK FOR BEST DISCOUNTED PRICE

3. Check the prices online (don't forget to include shipping charges in your calculations)

4. Buy from people you like that give good service and good prices

(I would rather pay more to a guy that gives good service than anything at all to a guy that has a bad attitude)

I recently bought a load of stuff from CRC because I could save about 25% compared to local prices and I could get everything I wanted from one place. I'm all about supporting local businesses but they have to come to the party on price. The distributors must also realise that they can't overcharge the bike shops.

I had excellent service from CRC, and also good service from CL. The other day I emailed about some helmet pads before I went away on a 2 week holiday. When I returned from the holiday I had 5 missed calls and 3 emails from CL with feedback on the pads. They got them in for me and they were less expensive than any online shop. This is the kind of service we like and need from the local guys!

Rip-Off - Cajees Cycle Corner ......

They like second hand car dealership out to rip everyone off......

Marketing strategy for ie CAJEES, WESDENE Cycles

150 % markup and 50% discount....ie you still pay 100% markup on goods

I disagree, Westdene is reasonably to well priced and then give a 10 - 15% discount without having to ask for it. Cajees has rediculous prices and doesn't offer discount unless you tell them it is cheaper somewhere else. Most people new to the sport shop around for the bicycle not realising how much they need to spend on accessories, Cajees goes on to sell them the bicycle at a good price and then rips them off on the rest of the bits. The client assumes they are getting a good deal on the rest of the stuff because of the good price on the bike.
