Track event for Roadies sounds like a downhill event for MTB'ers .

Don't all roadies do track events ?

Maybe in the old days DR but the track is generally reserved for a hardcore few these days.

Ivanb, what events you staging? I assume this is to be held at Hector Norris?

Yip at Hector enorris.

Events not finalised but 1500m, 3000m, and 5000m then maybe elimination. But only on road bikes as part of the track programme so its roadies against roadies.

MTB welcome I would like to see them on the track for sure.

Hector Norris is in Rosentenville off Rosentenville Rd, next to Rand Stadium Soccer across the road from Wemmerpan and near Turfontein Race Course

smileys/smiley36.gif You'll be spinning yourself silly on a MTB  unless you put on monster cranks. Sounds like a good idea and i'll be there if i can get off work in time.

Ivanb, i really did want to make it... but i'm car-less at this stage and as a girl i'm NOT about to cycle alone to Hector Norris (heck, i wouldn't advise anyone to cycle alone to HN)

This track thing is not for sissies.smileys/smiley11.gif Takes a bit getting used to riding at those angles. Only a few roadies pitched up.  I did the 500m, 1500, but the most difficult was the 3000 smileys/smiley18.gif, how the guys manage to keep sucking oxygen after this i dont know, my lungs were burning (and then the trackies  still do 30 laps smileys/smiley29.gif).  Came last in 500 and 3000 (but not)lapped smileys/smiley2.gif)but i managed to clip into 3rd on the 1500smileys/smiley4.gif.

Still, thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back

i might just be spending the day car hunting...

just got the news that "****-heap" (my car) is terminal - gonna cost over r10000 to get it going. so not worth it for a car that has spent the past 3-4 years being highly unreliable. hopefully it'll be at the scrapyard by the end of the day. now to find a replacement car... only have r30000 to spend... and about r5000 (maybe) from scrapping "****-heap"....
