Sidi or DTM shoes?

I have had Specialized shoes (both MTB and Road) for the last 4-5 years - (my entire cyling career)

In August 2009 I bought a pair of Sidi Eagle6 MTB shoes from CRC. The moment I put them on I started looking at which road shoe I am going to buy. Got Ergo2 last week and Friday and they are even better. I have never had DMT shoes, but you cannot go wrong with Sidi!!

They are fairly naroow though, so best you try them on before you buy .

Prices of the Ergo2 are a bit steep - Should be around R3700 - R4000.

CRC - R2800 + VAT + 40% duties (unless you are VERY lucky and it slips through) +- R4000.

DMT's backup in SA is crap. (Personal experience!!!!!)

And their shoes are by far the most uncomfortable I have ever owned.

So I'd go with SIDI by FAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are looking at about R4k for a set of the Ergo 2.  Best shoe in the world IMO

Good luck and enjoy shopping!!!

It seems to already be a general consensus here, to which will add that there is no shoe that, IMHO, comes close to Sidi. They are quite simply the best.

I used the Ergo 2's for road and the Dragon 2 for MTB. Both awesome.

Ergo 2s are fantastic shoes, just be careful with the cleat bolt length that comes with some of the pedals. In my inexperience at the time I fitted normal look cleats and after 3 month I had major problems with my feet. Bolts stuck through rather thin inner and aggrevated my tendons and balls (of my feet :) ). Funny thing is you can't feel bolt tips by hand, only when you apply whole body weight does it press enough to hit foot.

But yeah, great shoe. I also used DTM tri shoes at one stage and they were also really fantastic.

One hint on both sets, use the correct torque rating for the cleat bolts as both my sets did eventually strip. Sidis have spares but the inner is never quite the same after cuttting. DTM cannot be fixed.

Serias? In terms of warranty, repairs or both?

Bought mine sort of second hand. Oke bought them then never used them, cost me 700 rond. Bargain.

Comfort wise, not too uncomfortable except over long rides maybe. Def not the most comfortable shoes, especially compared to Sidi.

Boy are they robust and long wearing though!

Actually the best riding shoes I've had, were Lakes. No one seems to bring them in anymore though.

Cycling shoes can be ckleared throug customs as "spiked athletic shoes", then carries a much lower duty than the odd 25% + 14% on other shoes.
