Karl - these are not the original kits , that much I can guarantee you! All of the team kits are made in Europe by the likes of Castelli,Agu,Santini,Nalini etc...

All of them have proprietary chamois etc. and do not use Coolmax padding. These are common Chinese fakes, but if it makes you happy, those 8 year olds need to eat I suppose

I hear you. But I expected less from the quality. Doubt that a 8 year old can make clothes this good.

I will try to win some races for them. Go cycling jersey!

From being in the import industry a few years back, i don't think it will be that excessive.

Say $49.99 @ R8 to the USD = R400

postage @ $5 = 40

45% Customs & Duties = 180

Vat @ 14% = 56

TOTAL R676 (The price of a CapeStorm bibshort)

You only pay customs and VAT on the value of the goods, which excludes the postage costs.

Will let you know for sure, when i receive my bill...

Customs & Vat in total cost me R400... in a $89.98 order... not bad me think.

Quality is rather nice as well...

The guy at customs seems to know about us - he even asked if I also order from CRC

Holy smoke marius, thats 50% of the cost of your order.........

My whole order cost a little over R1k - bibs, shirt, & long sleeve shirt...

Duties @ 40%

But that still sounds worth it.

A kit (Bib + shirt) in SA will easily cost you R 600 - 800 and a long sleeve shirt will be another few R100's.

As long as you are happy with your purchase, that's what counts.

If the quality is a good as you guys say, it's still worth it, as opposed to buying the same old shirts with South African flags, Big 5, skeletons and outdated Pro team logo's on....

Well, look... the quality isn't anything near assos / castelli or any other famous brands, but it's a lot better than most of the clothing available to us (the reasonably priced stuff that is).

For the price - including customs (f%^kers) and vat, it's a reasonable deal imo.

I agree! GOing to order some more within the week. Maybe this parcel sneeks through...

Went riding at Meerendal yesterday afternoon with my new kit and the shamy works very well.

I would also advise guys to maybe go one size up on the shorts - i take a medium usually, and the med's I got from China are a little tight around the legs (where the elastic is).

Marius would you say the same for the shirts? One size up?

caad4 - i like my jerseys on the tight side, the medium fit i got from China fits nice and snug. I assume most guys would like their tops a bit "loose", in that case go a size bigger then. It all depends on your preference.

Went out in my new kit over the weekend.

I can also say that the sizing is half a size smaller that SA brands. My size large Indola shorts fit perfect, the new kit bib sits ever so slightly tighter. I have no issue with the shammy; it might be slightly thinner than the Indola, but a little firmer I think. Either way, the 4 hour ride on Saturday wasn't any more uncomfortable than usual.

As for the shirt; it feels a little shorter than my other size large jersey and the sleeves sit a little bit higher on the arms. So I wonder if a xl would have been a better fit... But it's okay. Zipper isn't great. It's plastic, but it's okay too. It also doesn't have the little zip compartment in one of the back pockets where I normally put my moolas.

I may have been better off thinking a little further than my nose about the white HTC kit, since it WILL go see-through if wet. So I'll just have to be sure it won't rain while out cycling.

The fabric doesn't strike me as "top quality", but so far it's breathes alright.

The printing is sharp, vivid and clear. For now...

The only major complaint I have about the kit is the fit. Maybe 1 size up will sit better, but lets just say I'm glad the bib is black in the middle :P

All in all I would expect to pay R700 for a similar quality kit locally. So I'm happy with adding and extra kit to the shelf for only $50. Just disappointed that by some miracle it wasn't top quality stuff.
