Yes he was in the attack group, and when the passed Andy he went straight to the front to drive the pace. But we can go on the whole day. AC's apology just proves that he knew he was in the wrong.

agreed - like anything on the hub, everyone will continue to have their own feelings on the topic.

however, all those who complained, please remember to slow down next time someone you're racing with has a mechanical

Ha ha..no you idjit! No need to slow down! Just dont attack the poor soul. :)

At the risk of raising the ire of Dirt*Girl, here is my uneducated, unqualified (never raced at this level) opinion (see signature).

What really got me going was when Contador did his lovely little pistolero salute to himself on the podium. When you win a stage and you have that little trademark, then fair enough. When you are gifted a stage, that is a different story in my book.

Perhaps Alberto does not need a yellow jersey as he has a yellow streak down his back.

As I said, this is undeducated opinion. Sorry Dirty - I know you have a soft spot for him.

This whole incident completely distracted everyone form the most important event so far in the tour that happened yesterday.

Did you guys notice the hot chick (with the nice babylons) that hands out the white jersey is back?? :D

even if there is a group of riders who attack you and the poor chap who had a mechanical. the honorable thing is to carry on riding at your normal pace, while the rest go for the win

If I've got my facts right, the "attack group" was/is not a threat (2 min or so behind!?)to the Yellow jersey. AC and AS are the two main protagonist. Even if AC had slowed down and not deliberately attack AS when he had trouble (self induced or not, which is still debateable), the Yellow would still be fought out between them and not the attack group.

But like I said in a previous post, I've never raced Elites, never was a factor the few years I tried my hand in Vet racing, so I'm a clueless smuck that knows nothing of racing or racing ethics.

I did not notice her back - is it as good as her front? :)

What gets me the most is the stories these guys come up with!!

He did not know, and when he found out it was too late!!

Yes, that must be some of the biggest bull**** I have heard from the pros in a while.

The whole world saw it, vino saw it, all of the team cars saw it, Contador came right past him...Come on..

And when was too late??he could have stop pacing anytime he wanted and just stayed with Menschov and Sanchez but no he paced like a man possessed...all the way to the finish!!!

Man up Contador!!!!!!!!!!!!!You made a choice to go and now you should stick with it, don't come and tell us a bunch of sh$t....just man up!!!!!

That's what gets me..not that he did not wait, yes I would have liked it that way but the fact that he want us to believe that ****.....you want to pace your hard out all the way to finish then fine we all saw you go for every second you can get so MAN UP!!

What he should have done is get off he’s bike and tell everybody that he is sorry that Andy had to lose time like that but that’s racing and he wants the yellow so bad that he had to go as hard as he can!!

The ethos of Le Tour has always been - winning is not the apex but to win with honour is. It is also true that whether the win is a honourable win is the most debated and subjective topic. This is what makes Le Tour the best soap opera around and I'm reminded of the Lemond / Hinault battle when they were on the same team and Hinault reneged on his agreement to support Lemond. Public opinion swayed in Lemond's favour and he won the next tour and Hinault retired. AC has missed the opportunity to get the public on his side and with it the chance of being hailed amongst the greats of Le Tour.

But what the heck looking this thread and hearing the booing from the public in France the soap opera is alive and well. We are in for a great couple of days. ;)
