Hi Mallo, how you doing? I agree with you and that is why I am happy to pay an "affiliation fee" to CGC and  that National Body. Do some of the club joining fees go to the CSA or CGC? If not, then joining a club has no direct financial benefit to the governing bodies/structures.

No clubs = no finances for provincial bodies hence no staff and no money to CSA except for race entry levies from race organizers, so who is really the loser at the end of the day( Us the rider).

CGC is funded by your annual R75-00 licence fee per rider currently and this money in turn has a portion sent off to CSA and the rest used to keep the office/staff up and running.CGC has to part fund our Inter clubs and provincial champs as well from this money across all disciplines road, track, mtb, etc.

Thanks. How difficult would it to be for me pay this R 75.00 directly to the CGC as an affiliation fee? That way they still get the money they need and I get a licence without having the hassle of joining a club?

Until we know the facts with all the different bodies, You can't really say how the finances work. You need to get members from all associations who know what they are talking about. I personally don't know? I am assuming? I don't know what stage they are at with this whole license change or how it is going to work?Confused

I don't know what the big deal is about having to join a club. If your not happy with clubs in your area form your own. It's really not that hard. We did, now we have about 30 members and we only started this jan. We make no profit at all and basically we are doing it for ourselves. We enjoy our own rides with no pressure on members what so ever. Our first club ride to Dur is in Oct for the Amashova so we have prooven that it can be done with a little effort. Wink

your provinces might expect you to adhere to certain requirements in order to register a club - i know in boland a club needs to have a fixed nr of licensed riders...do not know whether they apply it all that firmly tho :)

Unlike E1A104R2D2 I have no problem in joining a club. I can also certainly afford R30 as I'm sure most of us could.

My question is .... where does that money go to ?

If you are an average cyclist, not riding league or provincials or SA champs (and this is the huge majority) then what does CSA do for them ?

How is all this money helping the average cyclist ?
