I’ve noticed Garmin Connect switched from Google Maps to Bing Maps. Anybody know why Garmin make the switch? Seem to me that Bing Maps is not near the same quality as Google Maps.

i flippen hate bing. the pc's i use are windows machines, and they force the useless crap on you.

if the maps are as bad as their search engine then garmin will get some backlash,

Not a happy chappy!

Blows :cursing:

I actually took the time and effort to register for the Forums page, just to pop up a comment in one of the threads complaining... See they have in excess of 2000 in the one thread already, and there are several...

Hope they get the message!

Garmin is getting quite some flack / backlash about Bing. Follow Garmin Connect on Facebook to see that there are a lot of people unhappy with the move.

I see there is a firmware update for the 310XT. Hopefully it fixes the problems I have because it is a bit crap

This is from the 94.7, I know my moving time was 4:02:09 and not 3:52:59. The elapsed time is correct at 4:03:36

And as for the heart rate graph, I don't even look at it

Yes I noticed this with much dismay this past week: what a pile of poooo Bing is! Some $ infused corporate hook-up no doubt.

BUT there is a Google Earth button on the Activity page, that will give you the kml (?) file to download, and that will open with Google Earth, so all is not lost.

Yep I will no longer use Garmin Connect, wasn't bad for a free program, but Bing, eish !

What do you use? I know you can import the activity into garmin training centre but I found the connect interface much richer. I know there are a couple of 3rd party apps that is similiar to garmin connect, i take it you are using one of these

Solution Found!

Install this extension in Google Chrome!

Google Maps is Back!

In Garmin Connect, you will still see Bing Maps under Dashboard but when you click on Activities Google is Back

Garmin is very lame with their response, check out the facebook groups and gramin forums - everyone is anti Bing!
