blame EP Cycling - they were the ones to apply for it so they should make sure all is in order.

surely the guys awarding it to them should make sure that everything is OK for race day....a week before the event.

the TOP takes the punch...the then have to go sort out who to blame further down.

All they have done is changed the road race into a hill climb race over several laps, going to be interesting results coming through

Here we can learn something from the FIFA/IM book.

Make sure you can deliver - if not, there will be financial implication!!!!

This will discourgage "fly-by-night" orgenizers.

Get everyone involved and plan months/years in advance, that way you can have small businesses/schools/clubs setting up propper service/product pionts to service the crowd and make money!!! Turn it into a festival type deal and capitalize on the oppertunity.

Chedar in hand is much better than egg on face.

This is not a part time gig people - dont treat it like a bridge club!

Raait seeing no one is batting for CSA and for the sake of having a 2 sided argument let me step in :D

I start the defence with the old proverb:

"Before criticizing a man, walk a mile in his shoes..."

i.e. unless you have experience with organizing such an event be careful how you criticize.

Perhaps the sudden route changes and delays are a result of local Traffic Dept instructions?

My last recollection of SA road champs (2002 Pretoria Union buildings) was that they were pretty well organized.

But alas, it sure looks like they messed up this one….

What a bunch of tools! Is not a case that non cyclists are in control, remember at one stage FS cycling had this fat f@cker in charge, kicked me out of the team because I didnt perform in one selection race, dumb prick was too useless to realise that I was recovering from flu and couldnt press myself into the red. That was because he didnt have a clue what it was about. I get p!ssed off just thinking about it. I have friends riding the vets race today. They specifically trained for the distance, they spent a week in PE checking out the route and preparing a race strategy. Pathetic, wake up you idiots, you will chase us away and we will never come back!!

Swissvan ou maat how are things on youre side of the world? Cold? I agree with you. CSA cant be blamed for everything. The local or provincial cycling body does all the arrangements with local government and municipalities. CSA does not do that as far as I know. The SA's in PTA you mention was organised by Gauteng North cycling.

In my opinion if you accept the job, you accept the responsibilities associated with the job. Unless you are a previously disadvantaged south african, then you are allowed to if you so choose to, to accept the job although you have no idea how to do the job, and when you get exposed you just organise an illegal strike and go to the CCMA, youll be back on the job in a flash.........and you still wont be able to do the job.
