Gels are sooooooo 2005. :lol:

 

They give you a 15min suger rush and drops you like a sack of patats after that.

And then you cramp big time.....

 

Try and steer clear if you can. Not only will your body adapt and not 'need' the suger but you will save money!!

I've been using 32GI or Cyctomax recently - I used to ride with plain water. I don't know (or care) if it's a placebo effect, but I think I almost finish stronger than I started, especially as I used to bomb badly after about 70km. I start drinking slightly before the race, and usually still have some left in my bottle afterwards.

Nothing. You wrap them in foil so it is sealed. Wrap them the previous evening and leave in the fridge or you can even freeze them. Normally I would eat them withint the first 90minutes of the race as they are slow releasing. Come on use some commonsense...

If you really are on a tight budget, take a piece of sugarcane along and suck on it for the whole race!!!

 

Or compress one big sugar cube and stick it to your handlebars. lean forward and give it a good lick everytime you feel tired!!
