Seems like this thread will remain.

From cyclingnews:

Official announcement ends months of speculation

After months of speculation, Garmin-Sharp and the Cannondale have confirmed that the two teams will merge for the 2015 season. Cannondale will become the WorldTour team’s title sponsor and bicycle supplier, with Slipstream Sports becoming the managerial body behind the team.

Garmin, who have been a main title sponsor at WorldTour level since 2008, will remain as a key sponsor of the new-look team.

"Slipstream Sports and Cannondale share key philosophies of a focus on innovation, developing the next generation of champions and a commitment to ethical sport," said Jonathan Vaughters, CEO of Slipstream Sports. "We are happy to work with another company, that, like Garmin, so closely shares our goals. We will be adding some great talent to an already outstanding roster and we believe the team will build on past successes and will produce very exciting racing in 2015. We look forward to what we can achieve together, both on and off the road."

Cool news hey!

WHOOHOO!

With you on that one Dale   Looks like they want to create more of a total American outfit, glad to see they are in talks with Ted King as well - he has been a faithfull stalwart for the team. Vaughters in control now, Italians out - wonder how that will work out - hopefully well.

"By the time I rolled across the finish line I was absolutely frozen (along with everyone else). I immediately walked to my hotel room which was conveniently located only 500m from the finish and straight into the shower completely dressed in my kit including helmet, sunnies and shoes! I cranked the hot water and sat down in the bottom of the bath to thawed myself out. It took me a few minutes to regain enough feeling in my fingers to take the sunnies of my face, five minutes before I had the strength in my fingers to unclip my helmet, and the shoes stayed on my feet for more than ten minutes before I pulled them off. After 15 minutes I finally removed my final piece of lycra and regained my body temperature! Just another amazing experience you seem to have time and time again in bike racing. To be brutally honest I’m looking forward to shutting my eyes and getting to sleep as I have no doubt that tomorrow will be another unpredictable Rockies adventure!"

As for the team’s color scheme — Cannondale has used a lime green in line with its former title sponsor, Liquigas, while Slipstream Sports has utilized a blue-and-white argyle theme for years — Vaughters said that lime green and argyle will, well, merge.

“We’re leaving the possibility open that someone comes in as a first-name title sponsor,” he said. “But as of today, it’s going to be green argyle for next year.”

So as myself/Dale/and others called over a month ago, its happening! Very exciting as the Italian Cannondale team was going nowhere.

Bring on Garmin Cannondale (That appears to be the most logical name?).

Garmin won't have title sponsor privileges, it seems. All depends on size of sponsorship of course.

They are however looking for an additional sponsor that can linked to the title "Team Cannondale".

Fortunately, I am a Dan Martin and Hesjedal fan.

But it is all different without Sagaaaan.
