    The Munga

Can you all just chill, are we not adults?

  3. No reason why not, just think about it and plan your spoking patterns.
  4. I was also thinking he could surprise us after watching his latest youtube interview.
  5. Also considering as my garmin device has just packed up. They offer free courier of the device so shouldn't be too expensive, about R6000 for a year with the device included.
  6. You are aware that you're certifiable right?
  7. I think a lot of this is country specific, if you look at ebay in the us or uk the prices are much more reasonable.
  8. Hey man, don't beat yourself up, you gave it your best, another day will come!
  9. Spokes break, just replace and make sure the wheel is properly balanced and true.
  10. Hang the bastard.
  11. 4. Follow Tao, make no contribution and come second with some honour and not like a C@$%**(T.
  12. I would stick with a hardtail mtb, no reason why you can't swop between straight, drop and jones bars.
  13. I have a powertap hub and use zwift with either an android phone or tablet. Experienced lots of dropouts with ant+ to the point that I bought the smart cap for the hub which uses bluetooth, and that has never failed. The ant+ seems to work very well for garmins and pcs, not sure why the difference.
  14. I also have the garmin speed and cadence sensor and a wahoo tickr hr monitor and they all pair with the zwift app on bluetooth, have you tried first installing garmin connect and pairing them with device?

    Who remembers?

    Ja well no fine.
  16. "The other thing for me that makes Munga tend more towards unsupported that supported, is it's not a competition to see who can spend the most to get the best support crew. And I think this is a reason why Mike talking about the rules is very important. I don't think we want this race to go down this path, where a competitor who can afford to have someone else follow them in a car has an advantage over someone who can't." Well stated.
  17. Perhaps an over simplistic view but why even have rules if you're not going to stick to them?
  18. I echo the gentleman sentiment, with a capital G, a really serious cyclist, someone who is absolutely passionate about getting the best out of this amazing invention of the bicycle. I must disagree that the comparison with Wiggo is a compliment, more like the other way around!
  19. Read your article on the munga ride in Ride yesterday, well done, very interesting write up, contains a lot of very wise advice for anyone wanting to take on a ride like this for the first time. And well done on the ride too, lots of self discipline seems to be in your nature!
  20. Not alluding to anything, and yes you're absolutely right. If it was the case, however, that there were no lights on the bike at 5:20 in the morning then I'm sure most would agree that's a little irresponsible?
  21. I presume the bike had lights on?
  22. Please don't misunderstand me here, I am a big fan of the Munga and hats off to Alex for a fantastic idea and event, but I don't believe that it doesn't generate a fairly substantial profit.
  23. It's not completely unsupported, Andy tracks everyone on the race 24/7 and is always in contact, you also have a very experienced sports doctor (Liz) on call as medical support, also 24/7. Your daily costs are unlikely to go above R400 so you are looking at 10 days for under R10000, and that's if you are going at a fairly relaxed pace. Granted it's a COMPLETELY different event and not really a race but if you aren't a contender for places but still want the karoo experience....................
