  1. One of the emails I sent him with Bikehub Admin cc’d

“I don’t understand why you’re going through all this trouble if you have my cash and I have received nothing from you.

I find it very disheartening that you can’t answer the phone or reply but you could o to the police station to open a case against me.

But I’ll be patient and wait. I have nothing to hide.

I’ve been transparent from the start.”

He’s a chop end of story! Sellers like these should be banned in my opinion.

Hiding behind a slow bank transfer is no excuse.

Imagine you’re at work and you get an sms saying this.

“Saps case number - xxx/04/2019 We used your mobile and Other IP details. SAPS JhB fraud squad. See you in court. Happy holidays we know who you are.”

And he had my address. I know I was innocent.

But all that went through my head is my wife and kids are at home.

    WTF IS HAPPENING..

and this chop doesn’t answer his phone or reply after sending that fraud sms.

  2. Yes, but your scenario is different, as you (seller) was being harassed by the buyer to try and get you to release goods before funds have cleared. Totally different story here.

In my case, I didn’t ask once for him to send the goods.

I just told him that when it reflects and his comfortable he should send it.

Yet he was hellbent that I was committing fraud.

But I think maybe it was his own guilty conscience that got to him and began deflecting and directing it to me.

  3. Was he trying to misrepresent his payment, or did he send a screenshot of the payment made with a date/time stamp?

2 very different things. I believe the OP has said that he then went home and sent an actual POP from his PC later?

I'm always circumspect in these situations but no one should be selling a helmet like that! It wouldn't pass inspection at most races. Bin it or wear it till you bin it.

I'm going with school fees and BURN THE WITCH!

Timestamp on payment from Standard bank is 5 min after i spoke to the seller and confirmed that i will make payment.

Interesting thread .... and interesting responses ...

Am I the only one "worried" by the fact that the buyer misrepresented his "immediate payment" ?

Clearly this story has THREE sides .... not sure we are privvy to the FULL truth ....

that said, in FULL agreement about the multitude of posts regarding the onus on the seller to ensure the REAL condition of items are clearly shown in the ADD.

but having been nearly scammed by false "proof of payment" I see a big red flag .... and can only wonder about the "full truth" ....

The third side is the seller is a chop, as i mentioned before i paid when i said i paid..

Maybe the seller chose to not see the payment and mess me around from the start? Who know's? I have proof in black and white from standard bank that the payment was made when i said i made it.

As with being weary of a fraud transaction.. the seller had the items and the cash in my case yet still "opened a case of Fraud" against me. he could have just waited a day before running to "police" and Bikehub Admin crying foul.. but i had nothing from him..

If you looking for a third view first understand the 2 you've been offered before casting judgment on me.. I'm trying to bring light to the antics that i experienced to forewarn other buyers.

Std to Std on a weekend isn’t immediate and has given me hassles before

Payment was made 8:30pm on a monday night. the wednesday was a holiday. He waited about 12 hours before allegedly opening fraud case against me.

  4. I'm going to be lank harsh here*.

    You're part of the problem.

You've done 50/60 transactions, yet from what I can see have only provided 2 bad ratings and 3 good ones.

The hub marketplace needs trader feedback to be done - for all good, average and bad deals.

otherwise it is just gumtree with comments.

*sorry about that, I can agree with your assessment of this oke being a knob.

I'll take that i WAS part of the problem. I now do rate. i just cant remember everone i've dealt with over the past. it took one bad experience for me to see the value in rating buyers and sellers which i now do.

  5. OP, could you please clarify the following:

Did the seller at any point up to the time of exchanging money note that the goods are sold "as is", or did he just add this little gem with the letter in the shipment?

If this was never disclosed prior to the finalisation of the transaction when you paid the money, the it is a useless regulation..... the seller can not just willy nilly make up rules as he wishes without you both agreeing to them!?!?

It was in the letter added into the box. he also did not disclose the damage or "Fix" prior to me receiving the items and reading the letter.

I did not agree to buying damaged goods if that's what you're asking.

He's a knob, hiding somewhere in the corner..

personally, I don't see how anybody can buy something without inspecting it first. You're setting yourself up to be shafted.

I am not excusing the seller in this case in any way. Just a general observation.

i literally have done easy 50/60 transaction via bikehub.

of which i have had 2 bad experiences with sellers.

I do the right thing and let others know about bad experiences so they are forewarned.

According to the stats available to me, he was active for more than a year, no prior negative rating and posts more than me.. I can forgive a scratch here and there.

But trying to mask damage and defaming me to Admin is not on. (which think was a tactic to get me banned and not be able to post this thread.

  6. Dear Throttle

WTH respect let’s go through this together and keep it to the facts. You assured me payment was done instantly and must keep the goods for you. You said you would do a instant payment form same bank to same bank. The proof sent to me of payments were not recognized by the bank as legitimate a day later and dither proof two days later. It possible your intention at that time was not to pay me right away I don’t know. I then alerted you to the fact and then on the third day payment was received. I apologies for the bank not recognizing your proof of payment but the fact remains they never seen this type of proof ... The goods are in good condition, before they were packed they were also photographed. Further more I confirmed our discussion and noted the goods are sold as is in the letter with one pictures of the packed goods. There be no further comment and wish you happy riding.

So you're saying i used glue, black and white markers to conceal damage on the helmet i bought from you and did not use?

And i scratched the sunglasses i bought from you for R650? why would i do something like that?

Are you delusional? Do you think the world is out to get you? Do you often look behind you while walking?

Grow a pair and take some accountability..

In the letter you added in the box you said you tried to fix it. dont be a chop man up..

I've got nothing to hide.. The proof of payment i send you was from the Standard bank app. it gives you the option to send it as an image which i did.

I then sent you the proof of payment from the Standard bank online portal which also has the timestamp of the transaction. I Paid within 5min or so of speaking with you over the phone.

This could all be resolved if you answered the phone when i phone you or reply to the messages i sent via sms or whatsapp. Instead you want to email Bikehub and tell them i tried to defraud you. but you still had the items in your posession? what were you trying?

Why lie to me and tell me you opened a case of fraud against me with SAPS? you had my cash and the items. you made me run around looking for answers and didn't answer your phone or reply to messages when i asked what fraud did i commit when i paid you?

You had me running around trying to sort it out while you kept silent.

Get your facts in order. I buy and sell stuff on bikehub often.

I gave you 5 days to respond to me before opening this thread because i believe in the good in people.

You're trying my patience now, stop trying to convince bikehub Admin i am a scammer.

    have some decency

  7. So I bought kit from forthelove (Gary Smith) on bike hub.

Paid the full price as advertised and included the cost he suggested for the shipping.

Mr Smith couldn’t wait for funds to reflect even after I sent multiple proof of payments.

Initially I was accused of committing fraud and said seller contacted Bikehub to report me without having the decency to communicate these falls accusations to me.

Instead he contacted bikehub and lied to me that he received my details and ip address and location and reported me to SAPS, even gave me the case number.

Then stops replying and leaves me to phone around to the police, lawyers and communicate with bikehub to piece things together.

So the funds then reflect and he apologizes and sends the items.

In the box accompanied with the items is a letter from the seller, first that the helmet was never crashed and then that he repaired something and the items are sold as is, then apology for the payment altercation.

Needless to say the items are VERY FAR from the stated condition. I have included photo’s.

He does not reply and I see he read my messages on WhatsApp.

I see he does not have anything for sale right now. But beware of his antics.

These people that take advantage of bikehub and fellow cyclist need to be named and shamed.

  8. What supplier/store did they buy them from? I think you can get replicas from just about any store, sometimes the user rating on aliexpress is not so reliable(I have seen some ratings where they slate the product in the review but give 5 stars because the seller responded quickly) But I want unbranded ones anyway. I don't want to be riding with something that says ENVE/easton if it isn't ENVE/easton.

    Not sure..
