  1. I was under the impression that podium finishers are not allowed to be on gravel bikes. This was based on a chat with a pro mtber about the TB speaking about his win several years ago. I am sure he was licking his lips at that being a possibility. But reading this shows we can? https://transbaviaans.co.za/blog/ While the times were significantly slower than in the previous weekend’s Race one new record was set in the Trans Baviaans Repeat. Bryan and Lauren Allot, riding as Team PowerBar 2, became the first riders to complete the event on gravel bikes. The couple are preparing for the 1 000 kilometre long Munga in December. “I figure if I can do this then the Munga will be just as easy” Bryan smiled a little nervously on the start line in Willowmore. “There might be no suspension, but you get rattled around anyway. The corrugations are always smoother on the other side of the road. But it’s a photograph ride, we are aiming to take it easy and enjoy it.” The Allot’s did just that, finishing in a steady time of 17 hours, 53 minutes and 56 seconds.
  2. Hehe, not trying to talk you out of it. You do you! The hardcore “oaks” is what inspires others!
  3. True, and the corrugations! RTTS had some mild corrugations and that was only 5 hours, not double that as with TB and the body was properly rattled! My dual suspension’s remote lockout on the shock failed when we arrived in Willowmore in last years race. During the race I would lose more momentum than my 2 partners on bad sections.
  4. Is this allowed? I saw a couple gravelbikes last year at the 5am rolling start but as I have it you cannot do drop bars at the TB. I might be wrong. If you do do it, be safe. My nerves just thinking going down some of those fast downhills! Will almost classify it next to the SS crowd, hardcore!
  5. Travelling cyclist? You sound more like a walker 😋
  6. Pylvak, but it is my first language… Go Vetseun!
  7. You can only win the Trans Baviaans in the race...
  8. As close as possible to the start line
  9. and should be sufficient
  10. #SubtleBrag which category you going for? ????
  11. Wow, this footage should bring a conclusion to what was an unfortunate event... She should have turned around when she got off her bike to go over the barrier tape. This is not triathlon, do not dismount until the end. Was she the lady that fell in the sprint at the CTCT? If so, did her chain break or what?
  12. This seems the most plausible. Freaken hard lines for Emma! She even looked left in the video as to think that is the way. Just an unfortunate event where the "non-cone" was probably placed back incorrectly. When we came past there was a marshal just at the corner before the one in the image.
  13. If not getting an overseas stint… Think his current team and Imbuko will be joining forces.
  14. subtle distance brag ????
  15. ^^ this. Reminds me of someone saying you should treat a tractor up the road as a stop sign.
  16. And I saw something similar from another country. All license holders to experience this.
  17. Yep, wheelied home as per picture ????
  18. Yes, please! At 80 RPM that is almost 4km/h faster then the 10T.
  19. Of course! #MulletPower is a thing. My guess is at least 40 Watts advantage!
  20. I believe that is below his FTP, hmmm, {insert he has to up those numbers meme here} ????
  21. #ClosedRoads
  22. I think I know which shop it was that made you start this poll. Somewhere in Pta East?
  23. Cool to know and good luck to them. If in Gauteng my suspension goes to Jacques at Cogent. Before he was here, I used to courier my shocks to Droo.
  24. Saw this on another platform... Yikes!
  25. Looked baie eina! He sort of bounced before skidding!
