  1. But please continue, great pics! šŸ˜‚
  2. I’m in this camp! Aaand, imagine all the South Africans working together! Go the Mullet!
  3. That was eina!
  4. Velouria: "I am now the only person to have finished all 18 Trans Baviaans events, and I think I am well qualified to say that this is definitely the toughest edition of this fantastic event yet." There you have it folks!
  5. Sigh, friend shared this with me: https://www.netwerk24.com/netwerk24/nuus/misdaad/fietsryer-met-klip-in-gesig-geslaan-tydens-trans-baviaans-20220815 In short, rider and his wife assaulted by thugs on the singletrack. Wow! Also mentioned in the article, 911 starters and 522 finishers. 😳 Ecobound on the Trans’ website does give guidance on what to expect. And, all of those that had to quit due to whatever, took something out of the race somehow. Meaning, a whole lot of riders will have respect for nature and the forces of it by either not riding again in such conditions or waterproofing and layering hacks to keep dry and warm.
  6. Winners came in with time of 9h40 ish. Almost 2 hours slower than the sub 8 record. Respect to all that finished!
  7. I used a friend’s Trek Checkpoint at one Race to the Sun. He had the Redshift stem (like 120mm or something but it was long) on and I only rode couple of loops with it and it was awesome! Pitty he is as big as a human and I had to replace it with a shorter non bouncy stem for the ā€œraceā€ and the difference was palpable. I think they are lekker!
  8. I'm no ErgoFit expert, but a few spacers here and there and you sorted!
  9. Apologies, this was for World Champs, not Commonwealth Games...
  10. In Wessel's case: He got a ticket to go and I believe the 2 gents before him too. Although that is it (a nod to say you can go). All else will fall on the athlete/sponsors. As someone else put it. Spend all that money to start last in the start chute...
  11. Saw a white Spark with black bits parked at a local trail last weekend. Wow it is pretty! Not the bastion type pretty, but enough to make our whole group turn our heads.
  12. I assume you used your "afstamp arm" aka "die bus is vol"
  13. that interview told me more about Henrique than it did about Nino...
  14. This race has made me regret not being a Cape Townian for the first time May the wind be favorable! No shame in winning with a better nutrition strategy (put on the backpacks and load up on the bananas) To all the mamils, make us proud! This is the race where you can show the mountain goats! Use your draft and weight wisely...
  15. I would not do this alone, there are a few groups that do this route (Velo, LCC, CycleLab). I have lost count of the number of times I have had to take evasive measures (ie, get off the road or a truck or bakkie could have hit me)
  16. Was this @Jewbacca? well done Mike and glad your husband is okay!
  17. will those tires actually hold 3 bar? šŸ˜†
  18. To be honest, did not notice a difference in shifting. But did not even think about that. Will have to investigate with more mileage. In fact, you saying I should go for a ride now?
  19. After giving my previous drivetrain its farewell ride through a muddy Buffelsdrift, I got this 9-46T from a hubber. The almost 3 seconds I have been able to spend on the 9 sprocket has been splendid. This is something that MUST be on Matt’s bike! šŸ’ŖšŸ™‹šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø
  20. 4th, took a wrong turn and came from long way back* *I heard
  21. Phil Buys, Marc Pritzen, Tristan Nortje
  22. I will be glued to WildAir’s instagram updates to see who the champs will be. Matt and Philip should be favourites for the mens crown.
