  1. thats the one. same experience for me. f'ing fast with a time that was very disproportionate to level of fitness.
  2. A note from this weekend. Saturday afternoon I was standing in the street watching my daughter riding her bike with the neighbours. The older of the neighbours kids (about 10) has a Mongoose bmx/trick bike thing. His younger sister was given a new raliegh BMX thing for christmas. It has side wheels and even still has pieces of bubble wrap in places. I noticed her standing on the pedals and the bike not moving, and then she would push the bike around instead of riding it. So I asked her to bring it to me to take a look. Some investigation revealed the back brake is binding on the tyre. For personal reasons I dont want to be known to these kids as being able to fix bikes, so I didnt go get tool, I just released the brake, made sure the front brake has some stopping power and asked her to ride it. Not even 1 pedal stroke later and the chain comes off the sprocket. Put it back, spin the pedals by hand and it seems fine, but the moment she pedals the chain pops off. Closer inspection and the rear wheel is out of alignment, even closer inspection and I see why. The rear drop outs are made of paper thin metal and are bent. How who ever manufactures raliegh in SA thinks that is remotely a good idea I dont know. The lightest of bumps is going to bend those drop outs, like its done in this case. Not all kids bikes are created equal.
  3. Some HIIT training this morning
  4. Nope, magic seats are still there.
  5. Surprisingly no one has copied Honda’s magic seats in the Jazz.
  6. If you're looking at Jazz you want to go for the 1.5, and if the budget can stretch then the sport offers 11kw more power than the standard 1.5 and a host of extra bells and whistles.
  7. KMC 11 spd chain Wipe with dry cloth once a week then drop of lube on each link. Dont ride the bike until the next day. Just over 3000km and my chain wear tool shows no wear yet. My opinion is that you dont need to lube after every ride unless you're riding in some rubbish conditions. Edited a second time to ad I do between 150 - 200km per week
  8. ouch hope you're ok
  9. If any clubs out east in JHB want to organise a crit race I have the perfect roads for you in an industrial area near Serrengetti Estate. Every time I ride through there (which is nearly every sunday) I look at these roads and think to myself it would make a perfect place for a crit race.
  10. I'm so glad so many suggested the Jazz. It was the first thing that came to mind but being a Honda Salesman I did not want to put it out there. Jazz also has what Honda call Magic seat. The rear seat bottoms (i.e. the part you sit on) lift up, creating a huge cargo area behind the front seats. If you take the wheels off your bike you can fit it in there and then still have a closed boot to put other luggage etc. in. They are not the most exciting cars to drive, but reliable as hell. For slightly more exciting see if you can pick up a Jazz Sport, but I dont think your budget will reach to a decent one.
  11. since this is pretty close to home, any more info on the burglary ? I hoping its the perps that were caught yesterday
  12. I've been using squirt since I bought my current chain. I've been happy with it so far. Doesnt attract to much dirt. Done just over 3000km with it and when I measured 200km ago it was not showing signs of ware. Glad to see it scores well in the linked tests.
  13. do you want to have your bike inside or outside the car ?
  14. Thats IT, I'm asking @Nick to ban you
  15. I'll just leave this here
  16. I'm reporting this post, we dont need this kind of negativity on the hub
  17. I cant find the original thread where this was initially reported, but 1 year on and this article (even though a bit on the sensational side) does ask some questions regarding e-bikes. Granted is American, and common sense isnt all that common over there.
  18. Well if we’re doing weather predictions a month and half away then looky here
  19. seeing extensions on a number of events lately. I'm guessing they are simply not getting the numbers they hoped they would
  20. Eish. We have booked at a restaurant in Kloofzight on Sunday, its my moms 75th. I see now the route goes straight past there. I'm hoping by mid day when we need to be there that the riders have either gone through or we just catch the very tail end. I had already warned the family to give themselves extra time because of the normal sunday cyclists, have now had to update them about the race. In the back of my mind I knew the race was happening sometime soon, but without actually going to the website to check I did not know it was this sunday.
  21. 👍 I'm aware of your products. I currently have a 3 year old pair of rather worn out mirage bibs that serve as my daily bibs.
  22. cycling is serious business man. personal opinion, for my taste, the designs are to busy. But I'm a simple man, with simple taste (some would say no taste )
  23. lekker pic
  24. facebook popped up an ad on Sunday, Travelstart was running a special until midnight. Worked out about R800 cheaper for a 1 way ticket. (dont you hate that they advertise a certain price and once you get into it they add airport tax and other rubbish). So flight booked. Will be driving back with my friend. Accommodation booked at whats become my favourite spot in Muizenberg for a bachelor trip to CPT. Bike will do a detour to PE first with my friend.
  25. and its why insurance treats you like a suspect even when you have a legit claim
