  1. Disc brakes open the door for lighter and stronger carbon wheels. Most of the r&d into carbon hoops goes into the braking surface. Its a trade off between stopping power and heat buildup, either melting tubby glue or blowing clinchers off the rims because of pressure increasing with heat. Discs solve that issue and I bet the wheel manufacturers cant wait for the end of rim brakes altogether. As for weight, most pros need to add weight to their bikes just to get to 6.8 kg's, so its not really an issue.
  2. One possible reason is that its a Taiwanese Colnago. Its made by Giant though, so quality is as good as it gets, but I cant help but think a Giant with the same spec will be cheaper.
  3. Why does Lemond have that rep? I've seen it been said before but not sure what he's done to deserve it.
  4. Well, he's probably telling the truth. I don't think there is any argument over Lances talent, but that doesn't mean he's not a cheat. Heck if he wasn't cheating he must be superman, considering the his main contenders were all cheats as well.
  5. Fanboys can't deal with the facts, its pointless repeating them.
  6. Prices seemed to have aligned in the last couple of years. Overseas still has better variety though, so if I need something I cant get here I just import it.
  7. They should make a bigger one so that W@nnabe can fit his wife in it.
  8. They not really shifters. They are the new formula road hydraulic brake levers with switches for shifting the electronic campag derailleurs.
  9. You should maybe go post this on a Cycling forum.
  10. Used to be Probike, but then Scott bought them out, so now its Scott themselves.
  11. Nah, thats far too naf. This is how you motorpace, demonstrated by Daryl's buddy, Theo Bos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-Pl-H3UJJg
  12. I second that. Just started my day on a high note.
  13. New to me too. Looks like you're correct though.
  14. Very nice. Looks like an Athena groupset.
  15. For anyone else I would agree, but in 2009 Valverde did exactly the same to Cadel Evans after Evans punctured. Valverde took full advantage of the fact and attacked. He went on to win the Vuelta.
  16. I know most people would like to think they can run the front brake based on their personal preference, but unfortunately there is only one correct answer to this question: End of debate.
  17. Step one: If you want to run white tape then buy some Fizik microtex tape. Step two: Clean green makes it look like new.
  18. This is getting silly. Its a subtle thing, not like you go from 175 to 170 and then feel like you're overspinning and cant keep up, as though you're running out of gears. Slowbee, if you select your 53 at the front and 11/12 at the back, I guarantee that you will not feel like you're spinning too much unless you're flat out on a downhill. Unless you of course have Andre Greipels legs, in which case you might opt for a 54.
  19. I've been a few times, but it is so pathetically supported that I can understand their decision to want to pull it down.
  20. Look, I’m human, and if it was someone I didn't know I would feel the same as you. When its someone you know suddenly a whole new dimension is added. The person I know just doesn't fit the profile of a ruthless criminal who doesn't give a **** about anyone else. He's a decent guy who loves bicycles and gets extremely excited when he stumbles across a bargain on Gumtree. If he's done anything he's let that passion and excitement cloud his judgement, but an evil criminal he is not.
  21. I know MacDaddy quite well. We both share a love for old school retro stuff and we have done a fair share of trading with one another. He is on the road a lot and always looking out for bargains. He is also not stupid and if he truly knew the stuff was stolen he wouldn't have bought it. Think about it, if you knowingly buy stolen goods would you seriously try and sell them here on the hub, of all places? If it was some naive newb I would understand, but MacDaddy has been buying and selling stuff for years. He is a family guy with a beautiful family and he would not jeopardize their welfare for a couple of bucks.
  22. Velosolo.co.uk. I've bought stuff from them before, really good service.
  23. The magnesium Dogma is one of my favourites. Never ridden one so cant really comment, but it was a sexy frame.
