  1. It probably helps having UST tyres on UST rims, but I have no problem seating my Larsens or Mountain Kings on my XT rims with a crappy old floor pump.
  2. As the grease monkeys say, after tight comes loose.
  3. I actually have it. I guess I missed the section on crank torque settings.
  4. How much torque are we talking about? I have always been a bit wary of over tightening the crank, but it seems as though its a pointless concern if the crank is going to tighten up itself anyway.
  5. This is theoretically correct, but flawed. While lower intensity training is more efficient, your total calories burnt is too low to make a difference. Would you rather burn fat at 50% of 100 calories per session or 30% of 500 calories per session. The latter is less efficient but the total fat calories is still higher than the more efficient method.
  6. That's why they created the constitution in America, to protect individuals from the largely ignorant masses. Once our constitution collapses in SA, then its time to run. At least for the time being its hanging by a few threads.
  7. I hear you and agree with you 100%. My bags are half packed as it is, but its a waste of negative energy getting worked up about his words, because there really is nothing we can do about it. A good deal of people, possibly even the majority, really love the guy, and that is technically democracy at work.
  8. What about us whites, we're like puppets. Every time puppet master Julius opens his mouth we flap our arms about in a huff. I'm just ignoring him, my life is better for it.
  9. If you guys thought retro road prices were ridiculous, check out the price for these old BMX grips currently on eBay: Link to auction
  10. Got there very late, but it looks like the jamboree was alot of fun with some good deals to be had.
  11. That is very nice, however, if you want a real steel Ciocc you should get a Pelizzoli. Giavanni Pelizzoli was the original founder of Ciocc and now builds frames under his own name after he sold Ciocc a few years ago.
  12. That rust will polish right out. For stubborn spots I use fine steel wool and then polish afterwords with Marine Shine. That Le Jeune is the South African made one by Francois Du Toit. You also got a French Le Jeune from the 70's. Francois might still have a decal kit for the bike. If you want some help with the gears just let me know, I've done several buids recently with downtube shifters.
  13. I had a pair of red Vittorias, 25 years ago.
  14. Were you using a 12-36 cassette by any chance? I read something a while back about Shimano hubs not being able to handle the torque of a 36 tooth sprocket, which is why they designed a hub specifically to handle the extra torque.
  15. Its very cool. The groupset looks like its Nouvo Record, apart from the derailleur obviously. If it were Super Record then the brake levers would have been drilled with lots of little holes. I would probably do what Le Turbo recommends, give it a good clean and ride it like it is. I see the brake levers are missing hoods. Original campag hoods are very hard to find and very expensive, so you will probably have to settle for some generic look alike hoods.
  16. Do whatever makes you happy. If you do turn it into a fixie just make sure you keep all the bits in case you want to revert back to original in future.
  17. Your post doesn't make sense. By saying they wont give back your tire, you're saying that they have it and wont give it back to you. By saying they wont change it, it implies that you have it and they dont want to take it back. So which one is it?
  18. And then other hubbers will be phoning the cops because some bikes may just have mixed groupsets rendering them obviously stolen.
  19. Oh crumbs, I can just imagine all the hubbers writing down serial numbers and interrogating little old ladies about where they acquired their bikes from.
  20. Huh, do you gauties think you're special or something? Why didn't you all travel down to the Cape and show us how it should be done then. This was SA's after all, or was it just pointless knowing you'd spend all that money and win nothing anyway?
  21. I've also gone for the slime in the tubes route for my sons bike. Not sure if there is an alternative.
  22. Seriously okes, lighten up, sheesh. Its a dude, i'm sure he can take someone on a forum telling him he's slightly heavy to be considered a climber. FFS, most of you are men, not a bunch of teenage girls!
  23. Thanks. What do you use on the back? The Vis 180 looks pretty good, but is damn expensive: Vis 180
  24. Where can I get one from?
