  1. I was so looking forward to carrying the e-bike up those stairs ....🤣 Holding thumbs your efforts with the repairs along Adderley reaps rewards. Thank you Nicholas.
  2. Yes, this (larger) section is 100% aligned with the SANS regulations pertaining to motor vehicles, specifically the section that relates to what constitute a bicycle. Weight, power, and maximum assist speed all being a direct copy of the European regulations. American spec imported e-bikes often have an assist level up to 32km/h (20mph). The maximum power output is an ongoing debate in both Europe and America. Until such time that Europe updates their regulations South Africa is unlikely to change the SANS standards in this regard. If anything, the drastic increase in e-delivery-bikes is prompting discussions to clamp down on this.
  3. Practically ... consider the USB-C to Garmin charge adaptor. Less cables on the desk, and easy enough to have a spare in the car and at the office ..... Many such options - 4-Pack USB C to Garmin Watch Charger Cable Adapter | Shop Today. Get it Tomorrow! | takealot.com But, yea ... let's see if a Hubber can help you out.
  4. Shoulda bought something that can handle the Bendz ....

  8. To Bellevue trailrun Jip, autumn is creeping up on us ....
  9. The Liv range from Giant may tick your boxes. The hardtail options are perfect for road and trails.
  10. On 4x4s there was one way to plug with any degree of success. This has very likely shaped my mindset .... I KNOW @DieselnDust is right with the dual sided supository can be locked and loaded for both small and big holes ..... I may wrll follow @DieselnDust advise and test out the dual unit, I even have one ....
  11. Dont want to jinx it .... never lost 1 in 20 000km. Have damaged two with the bike falling over 😬 Got my bike back yesterday .... fell over at the shop or bumped during transit ... either way, the reamer is destroyed ...
  12. Thanks, seems you are starting 3 minutes ahead of me.
  13. Where ? What bike shop ? (around the Western Cape I may just pop over...) Do you know their price ? I since got a link to buy at R350 per set.
  14. I have the Ryder unit, much prefer the SS. Also the reamer option with the SS have been used on the trails many times - each time heling other riders with plug-systems that dont come with reamers. The functionality of the SS is just next level. Especially the fact that you have immediate access to the plug in the event of a leaking tyre .... I have seen people get in trouble when the tyre is too deflated to actually use the plug ..... (though most punctures are not that critical) EDIT - I do wonder about those riders where you "need" the reamer ... somehow I think this may be related to not topping up sealant. Personally I have had many instances where the sealant sprayed out while sealing a hole, but the two occasions where I needed to plug my own tyres the holes where certainly large enough to use the plug without the reamer ..... I would rather have it and not need it ... Sad reality - very exposed on the bar ends ....
  15. Every good thread deserves a thread revival every decade or so ..... Anybody know where we can buy a Sahmurai sword set ? Bit of a back story to this .... punch line it sounds like shops needs to order large batches, and thus it has become very scarce .... at least that is one story .....
  16. Would be interesting to know what happened here .... Would be interesting to hear if a standard trailer lights works ?? Isolated issue, or something that needs tweaking for people wanting to tow ?
  17. Have a close look at YOUR vehicle. Some are designed to carry load, on many the door bends when you add extra weight on the wheel.
  18. Fine line between "Perception", "Evidence" and the "Isolated experiences" .... YES - name brands also suffer failures, but with full back-up these are typically a non-issue. The ongoing debate relates to the various "quality streams" from Chinese firms .... there simply is no way for the end user to know if your order is excess from a quality line of unsold rubbish from another factory ... many videos on GCN about this, and it seems the only option is to check if the item has any sort of brand name which can then be checked for user feedback, but they point out that is not ideal at best. Frankly it is a lottery .... non-critical stuff well worth rolling the dice .... In our circle of friends, a number of items have ended in the bin very quickly .... typically non-critical items. Based on our experiences my perception is to stay way clear of this for critical items. No factual basis, just based on personal experiences.
  19. One word of caution - make sure to get the Thule with the WIDER bike spacing.

  23. Jeepers .... makes me think of the trips to Worcester. EARLY morning drive. Do one practice lap with Maritz in gale force Northerly winds .... Then wait two groups and he is off .... the wait feels like forever before you see where he is in the bunch at the end of lap one .... okay he survived and is mid-pack, making up a few spots through the school grounds .... lap two .... and its done .... I would do it again in a heartbeat !!! But certainly a long day for a short bike ride. Now he is into computer games .... I MISS our times on the trails .... they grow up way too quickly. ENJOY every moment and every trail ....
