  1. Thread revival .... Its the season .... drivers are even more distracted than normal ..... scary thought, but certainly the case .... In less than 1km 5 different cars just barged across my route .... Y-junction sort of taking a gap .... blind side junctions they did not even slow down .... last one a lady blasting through a traffic circle, also zero vision due to bushes .... so busy with her phone she barely made the turn .... Time to adopt survival mode ..... Stay safe out there peeps
  2. Please excuse my New Balance "work shoes" ...... 😋 Enjoying the office days, allows more commute days.
  3. @NotSoBigBen thank you 👍 Without that visor acting as an airbrake I finally got that segment's 39,6km/h monkey of my back ...
  4. With your local knowledge, and history with this series you would make a very good partner.
  5. Commuting in the drops .... no visors blocking the view ... @NotSoBigBen
  6. By 2024 both Aluminium and Carbon options were available. The carbon models had higher spec levels, and a price tag to match. The GRX on the Aluminium ticked my boxes.
  7. Skuus oom Ben 🫣
  8. En flat pedals ... werk tekkies ... En n rugsak oppad werk toe ... Nee kyk, daai prentjie moes aardig gelyk het van die kant af ....
  9. You got me to try the drops this morning. Sort of surprised that I could manage it .... handling okay .... back and hips okay .... even my belly was safe .... BUT ... looking ahead was simply impossible !! The helmet visor blocked any chance of looking ahead !! Will try again, with a helmet with no visor.
  10. Maybe we should re-invent the 80's up-side down drop bars ....
  11. To Devonbosh .... still waiting for my club card ... so just on tar, lap of this route most certainly in the near feature .... How do you sit on a saddle with goons big enough to get high up on that berm ....
  12. WELL said !! 🤣 Second year with my Trance-e I had an interesting day on the trails .... Got a nice new 625W.h battery (needed two batteries for stage race events). So now I can do a lekker long ride .... home to Meerendal, nice day on the trails sommer add Dorstberg to the mix. Accross the road and corridor to Conties .... gate lock is broken and people are throwing bikes over the fence .... nahhh ... back down the corridor, lower entrance to Conties. Now I note the battery is down a lot already !! After a snack at Dairy shed I start the climb over the koppie to get back home ... down to two bars on the battery at the START of the climb .... it was one gentle eco-mode suffer fest up that mother of a climb !! Switched the assistance off on the way down, just using the least possible along the climbs home .... battery switched off about one block from home .... The new 625W.h still on the charger ... I was never ever going to make that ride on the 500W.h battery .... That last 20km was an eye opener of what IS possible when you truly go into battery conservation mode ....
  13. Very important considerations .... I ONCE "quickly" changed the power modes via the app on my e-bike (different brand) .... Quickly turned into a lost hour ..... Once that app decided it was update time that was it !!!! No way to cancel !! No way to get the bike to ride until it had completed the update ..... Make no mistake, it sure is handy to be able to link to the app and to be able to tune power delivery per mode. Just DONT start that app before a ride. Ohhhhh .... and once the app decided that it will only link to the bike once location is switched on on the phone ... no warning, no way to know why it is acting up ....
  14. Baie geluk 👍

    Sunday around 10.30 ... RESPECT 👍👍
  19. Nice route. Perfect views. Wind picked up on the return leg ... thankfully. Return .... 33 degrees in the shade .... And then you see smiling Munga riders along Bainskloof .... RESPECT !!
  20. I regularly have trail runs that finish on Bottelary trails, very often encounter riders while doing the trail runs. The trailhead concept of Tygerberg MTB has long been a decider for us, and the way they accommodated Maritz as a small kid. I see TBMB as my club .... but enjoying seeing the trails at Bottelary .... At around + 50% it seems like a good deal. Guess the next question is where the Bottelary crowd gather in cyber space ...
  21. Thread revival ... with a bit of a twist. Tygerberg MTB memberships can be renewed from December .... I see they now also have the option to add BOTTELARY HILLS membership .... Would appreciate feedback and thoughts from the Bottelary regulars ...
  22. I have the ML, at 175cm. The seat is NOT all the way to the front, to get best setup. EDIT - the seat is some 30mm BACK. this was done during the bikefit, testing saddle fore / aft against pedalling efficiency ..... without the correct setup it may well be tempting to just move the saddle forward to try and solve the reach. I did go for a shorter stem, a 60mm stem Last time I rode a drop-bar outside was in the 80's .... it was a shock to the system !! The handling, the position .... took some getting used to !! Now getting comfortable with it. May just try the longer stem again in a few months time ....
