  1. Faan, don't waste your time with all these jokers trying to sell what's in their opinion the best of the best. Go with what you know, the new 2008 TCR Advanced ISP is heaps better than your broken baby, you know it makes sense.
  2. Beast = scabs where there shouldn't be any
  3. After two months and a good few thousand k's I finally resigned to the fact that my posterior was not going to be persuaded by a white Specialized Toupe Gel. This saddle came highly recommended and there were times while riding that it felt very comfortable but alas, the majority of the time it felt like I was sitting on a nerve. I didn't however do the fitting thing when I bought it and assumed that the 130 was the way to go, but I guess this might be the problem. Anyways, I put a Fizik Arione and the ISP Giant feels like a different bike on rough roads.
  4. Word of warning, he rides in pink and you could be mistaken for riding with a chick so better tell your other half ShortLegs2007-11-06 06:45:01

  7. Na, I mucked up the route, should be fixed now Durbanville High School Fun Ride (89.13 km.)

  9. Always ride into the wind to start your ride. Rule of thumb is to ride for 2/3 to 3/4 of your planned ride time into the wind and then turn and fly back. Caveat: this only works on an out and back route.
  10. Proper etiquette dictates, one should point down to the ground at the intended direction, move slowly in that direction after checking for any bike-haters passing at 195kph, close the opposing nostril with your forefinger and after lifting arm, expel the aforementioned snot. More experienced snot-expellors can do this without lifting there arm but the risk of a glazed snail-trail down your arm is higher. One should not forget that this can also be used as a tactic while racing. The time it takes some mug to wipe your snot off his glasses, and you can be up the road and long gone.ShortLegs2007-10-17 02:10:15
  11. I can vouch for the Gator Skins durability aswell as Spesch All Condition Armadillo (which I think are even more durable). I commuted into London for 3 winters straight using the Armadillos with one puncture (old umbrella shaft went right through)
  12. If you're going to race on them, then don't look any further then GP4000S <- must be the S (schnell) version, Black Chilli compound. Apparently Conti are going to be doing all their tyres with the new Black Chilli compound but until then I've found the GP4000S's to be the closest feel to tubs of any tyre I've ridden. They seem to roll faster and have that tub-like twitchy feel. I've got a second set waiting to replace the first set, but the mileage seems very good and it'll be while yet before they're replaced.
  13. Lizard, if you put it into the big blade as far as the left STI will allow and then gently push the return lever, you'll here the loud clunking sound. Repeat when looking at the front derailleur and you'll see it moves back a little bit. This is the micro-adjustment for when you're in a bigger sprocket at the back to stop chain rub.ShortLegs2007-10-09 04:53:09
  14. Get a track bike (fixed wheel) and learn to pedal in circles and all will be well
  15. Well said fatty, lucky for me only 5 out of six count so I'll be making amends in two weeks time. Lucky for me StringBean stopped when his chain snapped, if he'd carried on rolling he would have beaten me to the finish
  16. So who is who in this pic (I'm the kort gat with the rooi arm warmers)
  17. I really enjoyed the route, was a bit tentative on the strength of the bunch around me and was disappointed that 4 riders rode away from the whole bunch in the wind. I've never claimed to be a climber but I think if you're feeling strong then a good ride would have been satisfying. I enjoyed the gravel section but I don't think Vissers is the best route for short/long distance combined with traffic going both ways, road is too narrow and there is no shoulder.
  18. Am I going to be on my own in SV??
  19. Powerade Dome2Dome Vet 35-39 Race Report by Robby Rodrigues. Mountain biker Rynard van Hoven showed the roadies a clean pair of heels by winning the Powerade Dome2Dome veterans 35-39 group on Sunday the 16th of September 2007 in Johannesburg. An early breakaway containing 10 riders went clear after about 20km with team DCM well represented with 3 riders in the break as well as Dimension Data with 2 riders. Robby Rodrigues (City Cycling Club) from Cape Town also managed to slip into the break but was very tired from riding the 7 Day Selati Africycle Tour presented by Toyota and was eventually dropped by the group with about 40km to go. Team DCM sent Renato Albrecht up the road and he was accompanied by mountain biker Rynard van Hoven. The 2 of them rode in front of the chasing bunch for most of the way with a slender gap hovering between 35-55 seconds. In the chasing bunch Renato Albrecht?s team mates Anton Oberholzer and Mark Spencer were getting a free ride. The chasing bunch looked like they were about to reel the 2 breakaway riders in until Charles Pritchard put the chasing bunch in the gutter getting rid of 3 riders including Robby Rodrigues ( the current SA Champ 35-39). Anton Oberholzer then rode across to the 2 riders in front making it 2 DCM riders up front but Anton had wasted too much effort in riding across the gap. Rynard van Hoven allowed Renato to ride off the front as they had been up the road for most of the race to take the win but he was chased down by his own team mate Anton Oberholzer. Taking advantage of this Rynard jumped on his wheel and put in an attack of his own and dropped Anton and passed a shattered Renato with about 500 meters to go to take a well deserved win. 21. I've just got a set and wasn't sure about the red bits on the shammy. Turns out they were super comfy, they get a from me.
  22. I second the Toupe, there's not as much movement as the Arione but so far it's been ok. I tried an SLR and never got on with it. The flat nose kinda chaffed me so I chucked it. My second choice would have to be the new Flight. The Kit Car-boner-ia looks the business.
  23. yay, me http://www.actionography.co.za/action/index.php?pageId=100&id=73704&start=0&lightbox_page=&search_mode= It's a pity they didn't get a side on or one a little closer.
  24. Tiaan?
