  1. Look on the bright side, I was out at this morning at 05:30 in glorious sunshine and 80km later I'm looking out my window at work wishing I was back on my bike. You guys enjoy your "winter", if I can ride every day all you round in this forsaken country then most of you have no excuse and should quit your moaning. Fair weather fun riders.... tut.... tutShortLegs2007-06-21 03:11:30
  2. I just know I'm going to build up my new road bike only to have Shimano release the new Dura Ace group-set with loads of swanky carbon bits like rear derailleur and chain-rings ala XTR
  3. Ah, good memories around Hector Norris. They didn't run anything in winter in them days, but at least we had the Lester brothers
  4. I wonder if this is a preview of what we can expect in the new Dura Ace groupset A little bird told me they might showcase it in some race some time in July
  5. Phew, thanx for that MP. At least now I don't have to bin the 4 small frames I've got
  6. Hey WH, any reason why you don't ride on the road past the harbour which bypasses the highway bit?
  7. Mux, first things first, it's no shame to be passed by a runner or wheelchair-person or for that matter a cyclist with a prosthetic limb. Look at the positive, you weren't walking next to your bike when he passed you and he's close to as fast as he'll run up that hill, whereas you'll be giving it gas up butchers doing 25-30 when you're stronger. Vasbyt and always take the positive out of every situation even if it's a k4k situation.
  8. AL that is sweet. It seems almost a shame to not put DA on considering the frame and wheels, but I guess it's the best speed optional upgrade per R spent. Hope it brings you many miles of happiness and loads of pb's.
  9. You should name and shame. Club at least and if they were in unspecified kit then they should be recognisable from their bikes. If you want unfriendly cyclists you should try riding in the UK, miserable bunch, but then it must be the weather
  10. Anyone watch the world cup final nuf said
  11. Considering every Shimano groupset has been redesigned from the ground up over the past couple of years, you're taking k@k mampara Always go for the best you can afford. If you can scrape DA, then there is no comparison to Ultegra. Durability, quality, function and weight-weenieness are just the tip of the ice-berg. Don't be fooled, DA is the only way to go if you've got the dosh
  12. Hey slowpoke, point taken. I don't have your problem but even if I did, I'd wear Oakleys and bl1ksem off quite a bit. Oakleys do prescription lenses, but might be a little more than R600 me thinks.
  13. Pro-M's will fit your skinny mug like a balaclava. Granted I do own a pair of Rudy's but that's only cause they're sponsored and as cool goes are actually quite chilly. But if you have a choice, there's really only one choice to go with.ShortLegs2007-03-13 09:00:59
  14. Oakleys or don't bother. It's better to be dead and cool, than alive and uncool someone once said
  15. Someone explain why the UCI is in the wrong here when ASO refuse to let UNIBET (a valid Pro-Tour team) ride? ShortLegs2007-03-01 17:47:33
  16. All the best from across the sea, our prayers are with you and your family.
  17. Firstly; get your facts right, all of them. Secondly, next race go over to Mr Lange and have a chat with him and then come on here apologise for being a tw@
  18. Is there an echo in hereShortLegs2007-02-12 03:32:36
  19. Almost the same here but in Fahrenheit
  20. Living in this poxy hemisphere I can recommend from experience the following winter gear: Assos; anything you can get your hands on is about the best of the best Pearl Azumi Amfib gloves are great, this morning was -3 when I rode into work and my digits were toasty. Altura over-shoes, the water-proof neoprene ones are good, I use the sealed seamed gore-tex ones and my feet stay mostly dry in all by the worst rain. I ride with a Nike skull cap that covers my ears and I swear by it. Also a Respro mask keeps the pollution and cold air out. SKS mudguards are business, but likely an overkill for you guys.
  21. Talk to him and let him know. A lot of riders ride the way they do out of ignorance and inexperience, and in this instance he's putting himself and you at risk. Educate him or attack every chance you get and make him ride behind you hanging onto your back wheel
  22. Show me a Alu stem and bar combo that weighs under 200g for both... thought not I think you'll find the pro's a). have a weight limit so most of their components are beefier to make up for the skinny frame, and b). the pros I've chatted to were a bit skeptical on the carbon bars breaking on them.
