I read that Cradle Moon had to shut down for a while today with the flood of visitors...? These places are getting busy.

Most are just opportunists....its not just the snares...as mentioned fencing and poles are walking off..trees are being decimated by the truck load..isolated local lodges are being robbed of everything, including the one whose trail this is,....water infrastructure is being damaged and stolen..wont be long before that lonely old water reservoir for the town is gutted and stripped out...The guys know no-one is up there these days so they are just running free....

Jaaa...and its not just snares,,,cut fences...droppers and poles missing....gates missing....irringation pipes missing...water meters missing...transformers missing.... Being decolinised!

What was again suppsoed to be a quick ride before lunch turned into an anti snare mission.... 6 like this....fences cut...gates stolen....I did go to the hotel whose land it is but there is no-one there. TIA IF you are riding around Magalies this weekend please ensure you have a small decent pair of wire cutters and a sharp knife on hand....keep your eyes open as a couple of those snares just appeared from nowhere...

Some of that route passed through Magalies where I am incarcerated and I didn't see any route markers on my travels today....

At least most of the veld round here was burnt just before we had that bit of rain a few weeks back. Otherwise it would be worse with all that black dust going everywhere.... Anyway...just another couple of months till summer.....

Come on summer...this place is lovely when its green and the streams are flowing and the trees have leaves...only plus to the veld fire is I can see where all the sodding rocks are hiding....

Picked this up on Bid or Buy last night for R150 and R200 shipping - R350 total... Kershaw Select Fire Had a few good reviews....just wanted something to keep in my pocket and was cheapish....

Thanks to load shedding I opted for a ride to pass the time...what was going to be a bit of a slow ride for some distance turned into an afternoon of hiding my bike in the veld and going for a walk along a fence line removing a total of 8 snares in various sections...The area is quite isolated so you can imagine what it must be like around the villages etc....Do keep your eyes open..keep a pair of decent wire cutters on you (they use brake/gear cable type wire)..what caught my attention was that the scummy things had moved some rocks and broken off some branches to funnel the animals towards and into the snare....

Come on summer old mate....I'll buy you a beer....(althoug winter and the fires does make for a faster ride on the paths!)

I had no issues with Netflix and Nord but Showmax picks it up straight away....unless someone has a trick I have missed?
