  1. Ja, Avoid Farties on a weekend...great for a visit midweek....almost have the area to yourself!
  2. I may have the same one....had it for about 11 or 12 years now...I wanted to use it the other day and now neither battery really holds charge for more than an hour or so.... It looks like the standard is now 18v so I think I will just get a new one sometime rather than try and find batteries... Zero problems with it though in all these years...
  3. To be honest I never seem to find decent well priced tools at pawn shops....they are either about R10 shy of just buying new or so badly damaged they are just not worth buying anway... My dad found a nice Fluke multimeter years ago, previous boss got his Mitutoyo vernier for a steal and I have other mates who found good bargains but I seem to just end up finding expensive rubbish...

    .

Ive seen that car following guys up the Krugersdorp Hospital hill (Sterkfontein)....most guys in their cars will try their luck and gap it round the riders as soon as possible...bit sketchy..... Ive also seen a guy on a motorbike following the riders...that seems a better idea?
  5. Perfectly acceptable on the West Rand here... Ou De Klippies.....
  6. Must be worth about R20k now then.....
  7. So far...touchy wood...I have had no issues using it as it is (considering it has no holding tank) on new and used tubeless tyres..
  8. I have their stem and bars....Fitted them about 18 months or so... Zero issues.... Affordable products with a quick delivery....
  9. Years ago when petrol wasnt a crazy price and I could still afford a 4x4, I bought a twin headed portable compressor for reinflating the tyres after a day of off roading and vehicle buggering up...Even going as far as to add two socket outlets to the Sani for ease of use... Anyway....I probably used that thing about 5 times for its intended use....No longer is the Sani with me but I do still have the compressor and now its used to clean computers, keyboards and inflate my bicycle tyres...! Now to find another use for this hi-lift jack that was also bought with some lofty ideas......
  10. Thats good going on that bag...I had a similiar issue on my old bag...I used some Duct Tape on the inside to reinforce where the rubbing was taking place...
  11. Got the bag back... This is what a R480 repair looks like in case any one ever has this hassle again.... Plus the R200 odd in petrol and the R100 to post one way... R780 repair.... Anyway.....At least the R480 was not out of my pocket...
  12. If your email/order states 2.35 then they should pick up the costs on this as its their error...
  13. As soon as I smelt it I thought it was from SickUnder... I did almost 2 years of high school there, looking out upon the 'torches' of SASOL
  14. Washed bike for first time in about 2 months yesterday....only because I wanted to pull and service the fork and fit a new gear cable and outer and a bit of general maintenance...Used the car wash shampoo.... So long as the moving parts are clean Im not too fussed about the state of the bike, especially this time of the year with all the rain...
  15. Horrified dog food factory worker ‘saw 7ft telepathic alien mantis’ while cycling home EXCLUSIVE: Paul Froggatt, 26, has sketched the ET he claims he saw and likened its 'pure alien hatred' towards him to watching a spider eat a fly on a David Attenborough show https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/horrified-dog-food-factory-worker-23404598?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=star_main&fbclid=IwAR2ZPK_9oJ9_pMCQac1yrXTmPLPMveSoN6IuYGeYpuSSJhYszPLgM9x_qPQ
  16. When I use to use that Squirt stuff I would lube the chain the night before a ride so it could dry off a bit..otherwise I found it just made a gunky mess...I also used a Bearing Man product called Go....same stuff really....just a bigger bottle but cheaper in the long run. These days I just use gear oil., one drop per pin.....Done with paying a fortune for 120ml of liquid..... Most important bit is to clean off excess and keep chain clean after every ride regardless of what you use I think....?

    Lol...
  18. Lol...the bag is in CT! Having a holiday! BUT........ I just opened up my mails....And....Some good news. Thank you Camelbak and Cape Cycles. We have just got off the phone with Camelbak HQ and have been instructed to cover your repair and freight costs. We will advise once the pack has been repaired and shipped back directly to you.
  19. Spacer is here...not saying this is the issue but I did have some problems at first and this helped get a few mm of better chain line...
  20. Things is it wasn't me who ruined it though....the stitching came away from the mounting point on the strap to the upper part of the bag...You can see where its all come away.. The bag is 4 years old in April....last year it was hardly used with lockdown and I also bought a second hand Camelbak hipbag in Aug which I prefer to use...Quite nice actually....eliminates a sweaty back and stretched cycling shirt pockets... I have a 7 or 8 year old Lobo as well laying about, my first bag...The piping on the bottom section kinda sun rotted away and makes the zip hard to use so I bought this new one expecting the same kind of lifespan...I certainly dont' expect a lifetime of use but I do expect a certain value for money and 3 years just isn't it...I never have much money to waste and was taught to look after what I have and buy as good as you can so I try to buy decent branded products when I can afford it... It seems for me the bladders outlast the bags! Now I have two....
  21. They still advertise the 'lifetime warranty' on CamelCrap .but just use wear and tear as the go to excuse I think. I am going to have it sent back to me and will get a guy who does canvas work in the area to repair it...in hindsight I should have done this first. (At least the bag had a trip to CT in the last year!)...school fees! Oh well...lesson learnt...Would like to try those Osprey bags next when I have some money to waste again on seems to be seen as a disposable item like an expensive backpack....although they also have a lifetime warranty.....lol....
  22. Lol...so to repair a strap costs R480....its already cost me R100 to post net this thing to Cape Cycles (my advice...dont bother)...another R100 back....and another R200 in petrol to pick up and collect as its a 50km round trip for me...A new bag costs around R900 on CWC.... What a sham and scam....Bit miff here but ja....lesson learnt. Go cheap and expect to replace after 3 or 4 years.... Guess I will be using my friends 4 year old Dunlop backpack as that outlasted my fancy Camelbak....! I can already hear the comments from him.....
  23. How many spacers do you have on your drive side BB? I originally had 2 when I first went to 1x route...That is what was there from the 3x days.... I wound up just using one and that helped for a marginally better chain line...
  24. Looks like you are right...the top of the shoulder strap came away from the bag so its stitching/manufacturing issue in my opinion... Now after sending it down to Cape Cycles they now tell me repairs will be from R300-800, they still dont know as it has to go somewhere else for assessment and around R150 to R250 postage back...Bit of a waste to send it all the way down there for nothing when I could have had a guy in town who does canvas work just stitch it back up then for probably R100/150...Anyway that's my error here...experience should have warned me what happens when you try to claim...lol So before you shell out decent money for what you think may be a product that should last a 'lifetime' in a sense (I don't expect 10/15 years but its from Aug 2017..) and should have a certain level of warranty coverage be aware of the interpretation of 'lifetime'.. https://www.camelbak.com/customer-service/warranty/warranty.html
  25. I have this issue but only when the bike is on the stand and I turn the crank backwards to clean and lube up the chain...on a ride I have no problems.... 1 x 10....
