  1. Washed bike for first time in about 2 months yesterday....only because I wanted to pull and service the fork and fit a new gear cable and outer and a bit of general maintenance...Used the car wash shampoo.... So long as the moving parts are clean Im not too fussed about the state of the bike, especially this time of the year with all the rain...
  2. When I use to use that Squirt stuff I would lube the chain the night before a ride so it could dry off a bit..otherwise I found it just made a gunky mess...I also used a Bearing Man product called Go....same stuff really....just a bigger bottle but cheaper in the long run. These days I just use gear oil., one drop per pin.....Done with paying a fortune for 120ml of liquid..... Most important bit is to clean off excess and keep chain clean after every ride regardless of what you use I think....?

  5. FS Plane Crash: Name of pilot released The pilot who lost his life in a plane crash in the Free State has officially been named. Free State Police spokesperson, Thandi Mbambo, confirmed that the 52-year-old Christiaan Korf Wiid was confirmed dead when the wreckage of his plane was found by the police helicopter. Wiid was spraying crops on a farm in the Bulfontein area in the Free State on Thursday. His plane was, however, reported missing and the police were alerted. Mbambo says his family has now been informed of the aeroplane crash at Klipveld Farm in the Bultfontein district and his name may be released. Social media reports conveying condolences have been making the rounds.

  7. Making the change to late afternoon rides now, bit moeg of damp mornings! Stayed out a bit longer than I planned, but I thought I might and took the light when I left home! Lovely evening.
  8. I run a CCTV, alarm, router, small LED desklamp and my desktop off a 720w inverter and 100ah battery, just looked at the invoice...paid R4500 for it in March 2019......this was all I could scavenge up back then...I get a good 4 hours on it, but then hopefully the power is back on or I wont run the desktop, swop to the laptop and leave it so it can still keep the alarm and cameras and router going (and these days the service providers like MTN etc go down after about 2hrs. Its even worse if we get a double dose of load shedding...) If I had had more money I would have gone bigger and better knowing that in reality loadshedding, like taxes, will always be with us....but ja....! Its done its job over the last 2 years though with no problems. I have a Energiser battery in it...not sure if there are worth anything but again there were not too many options available. https://www.geewiz.co.za/long-run-ups-inverter-battery/5361-mecer-1200va-inverter-100ah-battery-4-hour-battery-life-kit-720w.html

  10. Shame how cameras (well, my crappy phone camera anyway!) just never catch those great sunrise moments...only your own eyes ever seem to see it...Passing by the railway station...old water tower for the trains....sadly the steam train no longer runs...
  11. Lol...you are half right here....generally something is raised up into the air but its not indicative of an apology....
  12. Does it through.,...I used to work for a guy who scammed people all the time (me including...out of my salary)...all they do once caught is just change trading names and trading areas...they know that most people will not go the legal route and nothing will happen to them.... Worst was being done out of my money and waiting for a bus oneday in PTA when another bus went by with this tappets face on it and a new business name etc...
  13. I like my beans on toast or just toast and peanut butter (sans crack) for breakfast but this is where it stops for me other than an occasional sarmie if I don't feel like going on a mission... When I cook I cook enough to leave leftovers so I don't have to use bread as a filler...
  14. Sounds like a serial/habitual con artist.... What sort of shifty sod leaves his guests high and dry by pretending to fetch firewood and making like Donald.......

  19. Lol... Some years back a friend did a relatively easy and flattish MTB race with me on his 'dual sus' Raleigh...Kakked off big time....He said it was the only bike he has ever had to keep on peddling on the downhills to keep going....

  22. Fair enough but its still a one sided story for me personally.......Maybe the 72 lost his footing ...or the cyclist gave him a roundhouse kick to the head....who knows....Hardly any info there but ja...its roadies...who knows.....
  23. Lol...hardly any story there..someone cycling in the road...someone hooted...someone did something else...bit of pushy shovey...Just 1/3 of what actually happened... No real outcome....Just Capetonians acting like like Gautengers... But the FB comments, as always, are the real winners! I liked this one.... He is just angry because he cant play golf....
