  1. Watch this the other night...its about Colton Harris...teenage robber who took to stealing planes.the barefoot bandit..not bad if you have an hour to kill
  2. Toppie of the Mountain...
  3. I must be relatively lucky...I tried to be as idle as possible at school (hated sports) and up until my mid 20s, now I am a 2 years away from 50 and I feel pretty good for my age...The only aches I get are from when I just simply overdo things (especially running and tacking thieves to the ground....). Touch wood I haven't really had any bad falls (except for one OTB last year just before the 94.7!) but I did grow up riding horses and competing so I think learning to fall from a bit of a height and dodging shod hooves gives you some rolling and tucking skills essential for mountain biking! Its nice riding something that doesn't shy at a guinea fowl....!
  4. Yeah, must be awesome for the residents....
  5. I've dealt with this guy for a warranty on a Suntour fork...Had no issues... Jehaan@dragons.co.za
  6. Just before the sunrise..looking westward towards Magalies...and before we hit 34 or 35 today....!

    Who remembers?

OK...I was obviously that shifty 8 year old then.....
  9. Glad I got the ride in early.....although I was out longer than I had planned for....discovered a nice looking Merc in the middle of the veld in a very isolated area....had to wait for the cops to come and investigate...turned out it was someone hiking...on private property but anyway! Better safe than sorry...the Merc had nice low profiles on, ultra shiny and had been driven off road...I thought that was a bit suspect ( A Merc from the village generally has mismatched tyressizes...caked in dirt and mud and at least one window doesnt work!) I was wrong .... but hats off on the local police for coming out straight away to look and make sure....And they phoned me later to update me on the situation.

    Who remembers?

I remember afternoons in the little village church graveyard scrounging for conkers with mates...weren't you supposed to bake them a bit or something? Takes me back almost 40 years....
  11. You can sell another bike for a coke....
  12. Your LBS should have some....But I have ordered from Bike Mob before...(Order a couple of spare ones for the good times like now....!) https://bikemob.co.za/products/rockshox32x4mmfoamring?variant=12677210079317
  13. Sure...but I do Like the fact its heavy enough to give someone a headache with!
  14. I have a small portable radio that I leave on in the house for the dogs when I go out so at least they can enjoy 5FM if the power goes off (please don't call the SPCA....)....I use the normal black Everyready cells....I get about 5 weeks on this...I tried the Duracell batteries (waaaay expensive) and I got about 3 weeks....Stick with the cheapies!
  15. Just seen them on Takealot...I'm going to 'town' (Roodepoort) tomorrow to a gun shop so I was going to see if they had any in stock... https://www.takealot.com/maglite-2-to-3-cell-dc-led-flashlights-cree-upgrade-module/PLID41687834?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8vLp-ZW27AIVUu3tCh0z-whGEAAYASAAEgLtBPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  16. Cool, saves R700 odd if I do the upgrade, new torch is about R1000, the upgrade is R300...watched a few videos and it seems worth it.
  17. I found my old 2 D cell Maglite...a guest left this at a lodge I worked at 22 years ago and never came back for it... Anyway...I was wondering if its worth doing the LED upgrade or just spending another R700 odd on top of the R300 for the upgrade and just buy a new torch...I like the fact the Maglite has a bit of weight to it and aside from a few scracthes looks pretty good for its age!...I have a decent home torch but its quite small and wouldn't be much of a weapon if needed.... Anyone done this upgrade?
  18. Except...Covid stopped us cycling.....

  20. So my question is, for the weekend warriors and the more serious guys, what makes you want to ride? Its something to do in a small town with limited options for keeping busy/active/mentally stable Why is cycling better than going to the gym, taking a jog or any other fitness hobby. I can kit up and just go without having to pack a bag, drive to gym etc... And lastly, what keeps you motivated? I enjoy it....and its an activity you can do on your own or as a group....

  22. Ja...aside from a couple of marks the fork performs well...no issues mechanically....
  23. I got a 9mm QR straight steerer RS Recon from Cycle Zone Rustenburg...a bit far from you maybe(!) but an option if push comes to shove, you could see if they can help and sort out shipping with a courier....they were about the only LBS near me (well, 70km away!) that had any interest in sourcing this type of fork....(I'm not overly sold on the black stanchions on my Recon...marks quite easily in my opinion)
  24. Best time of the day...nice and quiet....air smells clean and perfumed with blossoms....just a teeny weeny bit chilly still!
