  2. what an idiot (Bruyneel), he knew that Basso was tainted goods and ignored the circumstantial evidence when he hired Basso. Now it looks like he could be caught and suspends him...
  3. BTW sorry about the injuries ... or is this a hypothetical question?
  4. I dont think it is the clubs fault: The car hitting you had nothing to do with the club. There was only one following backup vehicle, you know this, the bunch split, YOU decided to go with the front bunch and not the slow guys and back up car. A club ride is not a sporting event or a race (no entry fee, no specific start and finish, no timing, no winner) Cycling is dangerous, less so with a club but still dangerous.Gumpole2007-04-23 07:53:05
  5. you put ze light on ze bike ... or improve your night vision (which i do)
  6. How does the test actually work? can understand how a test can measure your 'personal fitness' based on HR, recovery etc. Cant see how it can possibly measure VO2 without taking power into account???

  11. ok it was in one of the lower groups.... from cyclingnews.com Puerto blood confirmed to be Ullrich's By Hedwig Kr?ner http://www.cyclingnews.com/photos/2007/news/feb07/ullrich_retire/rbUllrich1alt.jpg German sports news agency sid revealed on Tuesday afternoon that the blood bags seized in Operaci?n Puerto and marked "Jan," "number 1" or "Hijo Rudicio" ('son of Rudy') have been confirmed to contain the blood of the now-retired German cycling star, Jan Ullrich. Public prosecutor Fred Apostel told sports news agency sid that the comparison with a DNA sample taken from Ullrich's saliva showed "without a doubt" that the blood seized by the Guardia Civil last year indeed belonged to the only German to have ever won the Tour de France. "We found nine blood bags that we could compare with the DNA probes," Apostel told n-tv. For the prosecutor, this proves that Jan Ullrich had indeed been in contact with the Spanish doctor Eufemiano Fuentes. "This shows that blood bags were stored there [in Fuentes' offices]," he added. The Ullrich camp has meanwhile reacted and posted a statement on the personal website of the former cyclist, janullrich.de. Attorney Johann Schwenn declared that "The defence will take a close look at the opinion of the Federal Criminal Police Office. After the irregularities in the Spanish procedure it is well possible that this finding is the consequence of manipulation. In any case, there is no reason to change anything in the line of defence of Jan Ullrich." The public prosecutor in Bonn, Germany is investigating fraud charges against Ullrich, as well as his advisor Rudy Pevenage.
  12. Dont base any comparisons on Bicycling, as they show the maximum 'recomended' retail price and you will usually get said bike for 10-15% less.
  13. MTB or Road...? but either way if you have to ask, its heavy
  14. wow - unlucky, or lucky that you weren't hurt worse. Hope all heals quick and the insurance guys dont give you grief.
  15. I thought the prices given were useless. Everything cost R600-R1200 or R1200+.. very vague.
  16. my pre-recall RXEs are still going strong - I am waiting for the wheather to get reeeally cold, or a serious crash to take them in.
  17. The idea of 'centre of gravity' has a lot to do with improved bike handling and F all to do with speed, p/w ratios etc. And losing a kg from the frame will actually raise the centre of gravity... so buy a lighter helmet! Agree about the weight issue - it is only relevant where you are overweight. My performances in races have nothing to do with my weight and everything to do with the amount of training that I have done over the month or two prior to the race. .. for the obese guys losing weight will improve performance much more than the p/w ratio only.. there is less energy used trying to cool down on hot days, more aerodynamic! etc
  18. Oom and M are going to win the tandem category after they have scared away TCS and the pros.
  19. Hey, Oompie the entries are up to 128, and shouldn't you be busy tarring the Rhodes dream instead of slagging off one of the more interesting local races?
  20. where did you read/ hear this?
  21. Giro: waiting for the lead bunch to come around for the last lap.... WTF they cancelled the last lap !!
  22. SO THE ANSWER IS ULTEGRA THEN - SIMPLE
  23. ....and Cruxie
  24. I got ultegra and a FSA carbon crank - put the remainder of the money into being able to afford a carbon frame - with change . If you are planning on continually pouring huge amounts into cycling gear - with no visable speed benefits then get DA... ( next month you can blow 7k+ on wheels. You never said what wheels you will be putting on (if you use DA) but if they are some unreliable or heavy crap wheels like: Ksyrium Equipe or Shimano 500 or 550... you WILL upgrade to better wheels! BTW. DA has been around for about 4 years. campy has just released nwe Record... I'm sure DA cant be too far behind. Actually who cares 105, U, DA, Record - get a good frame (sorted) and good wheels!!
