  1. I'm uploading my second hand car onto autotrader and going to buy a Chico golf.
  2. I would rather buy a R500 pair of bottom of the range shimano shoes, hell, heres a question - you're strapped for cash are you guying to buy somebody's second hand Calvin Kleins or new Mr price jocks for the same price.
  3. Maybe TBW is getting Robbie a 'train'?
  4. I would say R300 - R500 per annum + initial joining fee which might be waived reduced for development/ student/ OAPs etc. Heavy subsidisation for families is a must! At club100 I think the annual subs are R400 which is the price of two races + a few energy bars - well worth it. I think the service that a club gives is much more important than the cost because even if my club cost R1000 a year it would be cheap. Think you need to subsidise kit heavily too - pointless having a claub ride and 50ks later the ride captain is wondering if the 2 guys in phonak kit that have been dropped are part of the club ride or just cyclists that have been passed - so for a sense of identity/ safety getting everybody in kit is critical - again even if it has to be subsidised/ free for some..
  5. Its friday. tomorrow the frogs (hosts) and whining poms (holders) get kicked out of the world cup - or even better upset one of the tri nations to give us an easier trip to winning. heheheh
  6. 15 MILLION of them moved in the last two years to SRAM/ FSA etc
  7. WHAT IS IT????
  8. Looking at the profile, there seems to be about 5800m of climbing in the 14 laps... DNFs include Voight, Cancellera, Zabriskie, Gusev, Hunter etc so not exactly a bunch of losers. I think at this level (and this sort of race) once guys have done their work or realise that they are not going to win/podium they pull out. There isn't the reward of a flat stage tomorrow for the pure sprinters so why bother? Voeckler came in second last of the finishers, 15 minutes off the pace.. why bother?? Congrats anyway to DG for an excellent result

    Entry fees

picking up numbers: Except for the painful BIG events, I usually arrive at the start on race day 10 minutes earlier and pick up numbers instead of spending 2-3 hours trekking to F*ways to pick the same from Cyclelab. For me its not the entry fee that is the problem (I dont race often enough) its the time that the race takes up... eg typical club ride - 5:30 am from my house to club, club ride, back to house. 1150m ascent, 94kms back home just before 8:30 am. - 3hrs total Cradle Classic - 5:00am pack up bike and drive to race, start 7:10, finish 10:20 (97kms, 1160m ascent), back home 11:15am - 6h45 + 2 hours to get numbers = 8h45... thats almost day of my life!!!!
  10. compact with 12-25, campag or FSA/ 105 mix, or even shimano compact (never heard reviews though). I think that the highest level groupset that should be allowed with a tri[ple is Tiagra
  11. You're right - the big powerful guys do ride away from the small guys in a timetrial. In a race it is difficult for them to lose the little buggers because they hide in the slipstream behind them!
  12. Ja, that would shut up 99% of the frustrated moaning ... and also start a whole new batch of complaints: " hey Vaalies are providing most of the fees - not fair, hey too much/little spent on development, hey too much/little spent on safety, hey too much/little spent on the top juniors, etc etc moan etc."
  13. anyone? anyone??
  14. apparently you're not getting much from your 50k bike either... yes I did' date=' R34,000...[/quote'] So then why bitch about the R30 you need to pay for a license. ANY sport where you're going to win prize money will require that you have a license and are affiliated to a club Not quite right. The REAL licensed riders in the racing groups u23/elite/ladies vets etc are illegible for prizes. The seeded groups are not in line to win anything except that sponsored Raleigh at the prize giving lucky draw, even if the A group gets a faster time than the pros they dont win a cent.
  15. I have been upgraded from my normal CL start group to the BLs (must be a small entry ). Which other Hubbers are starting in group B? I'll be in Club100, yellow helmet, say hello at the start or bye bye when I drift off the back of the group in a cross wind.
  16. Maybe they are bluffing!
  17. No, no, no - the rings IMPROVE power and REDUCE knee problems. It must be in your mind (like the giant power gains)
  18. F driving to Durbs, trucks will kill you...but I am gonna buy one of these, train on the 'power collector mode' and then do the 94,7 in eezee mode but still give 100% effort.... Me and the battery will give out 400watts for the duration on a 'dikwiel' - magic
  19. .. I feel sorry for the 100s of guys that bought a blue GT MTB, they are going to get mowed down by the same Hubbers who always whine about road safety
  20. 31km/h - 1500m ascent - 135bpm, something doean't add up here
  21. Johan whats the point of the concrete analogy? The concrete slab, lintol, beam etc doesn't break because of the bottom steel which is in tension.. the concrete itself (at the top half of the slab) is in compression.
  22. Saw a sign last night, just in case you thought of going.
  23. weight? where does the image come from??
