  1. called them: open mon-thurs pm after 5. pay at main gate from 4:50, I can imagine what a stuff up that will be. No morning rides anymore
  2. - this ties in with any medical facts which state that a human can only go so far (there are finite parameters within which the body can function) without "assistance" tecnical, chemical or otherwise. But medical 'facts' are only based on what somebody has achieved already, so as soon as someone comes with better genetics, and or training, and or equipment... and or cheating these benchmarks will move. A while ago it was considered impossible to break the 4 minute mile... by the experts. Surely the thousands of sub 4 min runners aren't all cheats? And we cant say that 2006 is the point in history where the human race reached its full potential. I am sure that the 2 hour marathon will be run in my lifetime - without 'cheating'.
  3. Has anyone been there lately in the morning? What time does it open?? Gumpole2006-09-19 07:02:19
  4. excellent i will be hopefully be doing a loong club ride on monday morning, beats monday at the office.
  5. I dont think Landis is innocent but... with all the documentation around his training, physical abilities etc, all the power profiles for all the stages of the Tour his performance cannot be thought of as incredible. It was just another day at the office. The rivals completely stuffed up tactically, thats all. Just like LA winning the tour with such a superiour 'engine' - not really surprising. If Landis was cheating at the Tour (blood doping for example), he has been doping continuously for the last few years - his performances have been very consistant.Gumpole2006-09-19 01:02:32
  6. nothing, conspiracy theory on JC being made up by the Romans, (fairly interesting), schoolkids strangling themselves for kicks, another story which slipped my mind. No rugby, drugs or cycling.

They aren't even using last year's Cresta ride, Oh well I get seeded on last years 94.7 or Jock . Cradle I have plans and C2C is a biiiit to far.

The Cresta is even better, One tough hill at the beginning, then it is mostly fast and flattish... However if you are riding in the elite ladies that hill will be painful!

Michelle, when are the TCS guys going to upgrade your avatar from Club100
  10. here is the other accident where the ferrari is ripped in half but the cabin is still intact.. http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-ferrari28feb28,0,3986184.story?coll=la-home-headlines
  11. Yes, they were cleared.. but that day they didn't travel to the start on the team bus, they went with some other transport. So lets say the testers arrived 15 minutes earlier MAYBE the two were already out of there (in their car) and wouldn't have been tested. Just an idea, no proof at all. ... so MAYBE they had been tipped off about the testing or, given there performance in the race were expecting to be tested and decided to make their own travel arrangements.. maybe. .BTW, Astana are up to 25 riders.
  12. lets play devil's advocate here: Vino is part of a mega dirty team (but innocent himself) team banned from Tour loses, sponsors, but then resurrects itself as new team (without all the bad guys of course) New team does extremely well and kicks butt stage after stage in Vuelta. Vino and Kashekin miss drugs test (not their fault, but they changed their transport arrangements to travel on their own on the day that they get an 'unscheduled' drugs test) V + K continue to ride like machines. Astana is not interested in a protour license when they can get into the main tours with Vino's credentials alone... hmmmmmm
  13. EPO, creatine, growth hormones, all occur naturally in the body. Yes, but they dont occur naturally in foods (except creatine which I dont have a problem with). Adding EPO, GH etc changes the way your body functions. hmm I'm starting to sound very unconvincing!
  14. I would say that any supplement that could be found in natural foods, even if is isolated or condensed in a supplement is ok. ie all protein, all carbs, all vitamins, creatine - Your body then uses these substances to 'build itself' Any thing that is not a 'building block' as such, but a substance that changes the way your body basic functioning should be banned. eg hormones, steroids, epo. stimulants like caffeine (or cocaine) sit somewhere between the two camps!
  15. For the last few years the Tour has been the least exciting. LAs retirement changed that. The Tour and Vuelta have both been incredible, and should be great adverts for cycling... except for the drugs cloud. Vino/ Valverde ...pleeeease let the one who isn't on drugs win, just for a change.
  16. marius could be in the region of 1 second saved for every 20m ascent for 1 kg weight saving (assuming 80kg rider and bike weight) so 63 seconds up that 5km climb at 5%, pretty big! but check out www.machine-headsoftware.co.uk
  17. Whats up with kyalami? I haven't been for ages and want to go on Thurs pm. Is it 4:30 or 5:00 start? any info welcome I hate trekking out there for nothing . Back to topic. With traffic (road cycling) and fellow cyclists (even worse, races and club rides) I would be terrified to ride without a helmet. Kyalami in the mornings (or off peak season) I would love to ride without a helmet but do because of the odd laaities and few cyclists who become super aggressive (steroids) when they see someone without a helmet! pls, info on kyalami...
  18. So Hub's Admin is ok afterall?

  22. I think they are trying to get more darkies into the A bunch, so choose your race appropriately
  23. Petrol price is dropping next week. I'll be skipping it and instead plan to do TdLesotho as my 'out of town race', or maybe Jock again, ouch maybe not.
  24. Haha, It was amazing how the TCS mixed tandem beat the men's tandems wasn't it! could also be 'C'annondale riders
