  1. You could honestly just link both. Strava does not have daily steps, but if you only have an edge, not a watch, it should not make a difference if you only want to link one.
  2. I have a kick SNAP v2 and some cheap cadence sensor on a dedicated cheap indoor bike that is only for the trainer. It does the auto workout in erg mode and can do the virtual ride thing, but I prefer riding outdoors if it is not a workout. I believe that is the cheapest smart trainer option available, but is wheel on and cannot handle really big watts (the wheels slip during sprints). From there every step up gives you more features for more cost, wheel off, higher accuracy, more watts etc. So go up the food chain until you can see the one with the enough all the features that you need. The base model did it for me, maybe others can help with the more expensive ones.
  3. This works great, but checking my details now it seems you have to refresh this every 3 years. So worthwhile to check and update if it has been a while.
  4. This is the math everyone needs to do every year. The checkers close to us is better than PnP, and make extensive use of Virgin Active, Sportsmans Warehouse and Airlink Discounts. This is a game you should only play if the math is right for you. The push to banking products does not help me a bit, but the rest is still worth it for me.
  5. Did this happen for the new year? My Zwift from 30 Dec still loaded, have not used it since.
  6. Power runs on a different protocol than speed or cadence, even if that data is also included. The forerunner 35 could only do speed and cadence on different senors, the combo did not work. But it seems like they added that for the 45. You can check on this website for the protocols supported by each device https://www.thisisant.com/directory. I think the Forerunner 255 is the cheapest with power capabilities last time I checked.
  7. My conti indoor tyre has about 5000 km over a couple of years, so far no signs of wear.
  8. This is the first time I have seen this list set out like this for the names. Are the names also the same on the road bike side? May be worth having the list or graphic somewhere on the website with the hierarchy.
  9. I get the same when on certain corporate networks or VPN that blocks bikehub (and other sites) This redirects you to a landing page that has the certificate issue. So good idea to check on different WIFI/networks or turn off VPN if you have it on.
  10. I got some bibs as part of my order testing the delivery. Some bibs, tools, camera etc all for R200 in some intro offer, so no idea what the bibs itself cost me. Quality is what can be expected from that price. The pad is not very good, and the sewing does not look like it will last more than a year. But for indoor it works for my hour-ish rides in the week. Would not use for longer or outdoor rides. YMMV, my bum does not mind bad bibs/saddles that much.
  11. Last couple of Ali Express parcels got to me eventually. Four packages sent to three different post offices. One that only takes cash, one only card and the last one can do both. Takes at least two months and the tracking breaks down after the distribution center in town. Then the wait starts for the little notification paper in the post box. So I have received everything eventually, but not worth the hassle for most things I would order from there. Especially with the seemingly random taxes added to the end.
  12. Riding mostly on road and sweating like a pig at the slightest heat I got the helmet with the most holes I could find at the time, Suomy Timeless. Happens to be a very lightweight option as well. I have tested both the crash protection and their crash replacement, and happy with both. Might need some more coverage if I go on more gnarly rides than gravel in the future, so watching this thread for those. Also MIPS covers holes, so just in the way of the cooling winds so actively avoid it.
  13. I really enjoyed the coverage the year it was in Pretoria. Live streaming the attacks up Tom Jenkins with the crowds lining the side of the road was amazing, but since then there has not been proper coverage. Way to far to make the trip to go and watch for me, will see the results after the race most likely.
  14. I think the value is there, full road closure and an excuse to take a trip to Cape Town and do a scenic ride around it. But I suspect that for me and many others it will just not fit into the budget this year. Would rather spend the tavel and entry money to do several races and rides locally.
