  1. Ask them for a refund, like this person did.
  2. There’s been a lot of discussions around this. The data is yours, and they don’t deny it, and you have full right to see it in any 3rd party app that connects is the Strava. However, no-one else can view it (as they stated in their T&Cs) so you are not affected by this but rather anyone wanting to view it. What you are affected by, and it’s as clear as mud, in their T&Cs, relating to 3rd parties using it for analysis purposes. David (Intervals) has clarified that coaches can still see the data, so the muddy waters around the analysis of data is still (extremely) murky. There bullish communication is part of the problem.
  3. There's an interview with George on the TrainingPeaks CoachCast podcast. An enjoyable listen https://www.trainingpeaks.com/coach-blog/inside-trainingpeaks-virtual-redefining-indoor-cycling/
  4. The FIT file will tell you. Having said that, I notice HR doesn't show Polar.
  5. It is, David mentioned this earlier today on the Intervals forum.
  6. Interestingly, TrainingPeaks has close to, or just over, 100 devices that can link to their system. Strava isn’t on their list.
  7. Their T&Cs and the press statement reminds me of this:
  8. If using the indoor trainer, create an activity profile (BIKE INDOOR) then it doesn't search for GPS and result in auto-pausing problems. As Johnny82 above says, just pair your trainer to the Garmin and you're good to go. You can even dual record on another app at the same time.
  9. There may be somemore open letters sent to Strava, after they announced on Friday that 3rd party apps can no longer use data from the Strava API to analyse data, and also coaches will no longer be able to see their athlete's data (pivacy policy changes), inside of 30 days. So apps linked to Strava like StatsHunters, Velo Viewer, MyWindsock, etc. will have to makes changes to get your data from, your device manufacturer's software suite. Intervals.icu is the big one I need to make changes on (not for me, but the few guys I'm working with). https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2024/11/stravas-changes-to-kill-off-apps.html You may have seen a mail from them, this week: Hello G, We’re reaching out to inform you of a change that affects how third-party apps connected to Strava may display certain information. This update, effective on November 11th, is part of our commitment to privacy and transparency across all connected apps and devices. Third-party apps will now only be allowed to display Strava activity data related to a specific user to that user. Partners will be required to update their app within 30 days of November 11th to align with this new standard. What This Means for You You’ll continue to have access to your personal Strava activity data within your connected apps, but you may notice differences in how this data appears on platforms that need to align with our updated privacy terms. We understand these changes can be an adjustment, and we’re here to help. Read our full post for more details on this update and its impact. Thank you for being a valued member of the Strava community. Best, The Strava Team
  10. Most modern trainers have speed calculated from the accelerometer measuring rotational speed at/near the cassette.
  11. Wahoo only implemented integration with Intervals.icu in March this year, after many years of their users requesting it. Maybe it's Wahoo and not Discovery. edit: the API was still in BETA in March. It's related to their API, which Discovery most likely uses as the interface between the device upload and their system.
  12. I see a number of people I know, on the list, without a time. Their Strava file shows as complete, so either they rode without a timing board, or there's a problem. Here's the summary of start groups without a time. 13. Finish times, grouped by 30-minute buckets. So 160 + 1,069 = 1,229 gives the total that finished in under 3 hours, for the 98Km event only. Average ride time of 4:10:03, also for the 98Km.
  14. Split by distance, gender and grouped by hour The 4 showing in the 0-Km distance were test timing chips.
  15. the totals (entered) is at the top left: 9562 men 2404 women But then you have to scroll down to the bottom to see those without a time. I see people on the list without a time, and I know they finished (Strava says so 🤔).
  16. Here's the link to the results, which allows searching by gender to get the full list. https://live.ultimate.dk/desktop/front/index.php?eventid=6808
  17. Compared to Zwift @ R399/month, I know where I would prefer to spend the cash.
  18. It was you, right, at the start with us?
  19. Hope you had a good ride in whatever group you started in. We went out quite quickly, with less than a 1/3 of the start group making it to Kyalami. 😊
  20. Was a genuine lekker day out. Quite pleased to see no accidents on the route (not that there weren't any, but that is seemed that people were a little more responsible). Rode to the start and back home, started in G, with us stopping at water points 4, 5 and 6 to regroup with club group. FWIW, if time matters, then a 2h81 is a sub-3, hey? Flippen hot, even with a new white lid, but overall very good conditions. Had fun, lots of it. Hope that this race remains profitable to be held each year with road closure. Until 2025.
  21. Ride to Nasrec, pull the group to Kyalami, then stop at each water point, chat to some fellow riders and supporters en route, before riding home again. Today wasn’t about a race time, but rather a safe race finish. #missionaccomplished
  22. We (my club) are most likely starting in G, with a goal of 3:30. We’ll stop at a water point of two, and make up time inbetween. Nothing excessive, in terms of effort. If you want to tag along, look for guys in lumo yellow/green kit.
  23. An easy ride around town before a (long) ride tomorrow on roads (mostly).closed to traffic
  24. Now it's like Strava... virtual badges
  25. One of the big differences is that with 2x11 you have a smaller change in cadence (at the same effort level) when shifting gears, compared to the 1x12. There are some overlapping gear ratios (front chain ring divided by rear cog) due to the nature of having 22 difference gear options (2x11). I prefer the 2x even though there are less components to manage on the 1x system.
