I live in Randpark Ridge and work in Sandton 12km one way. BUT I can tell you theres no way I would cycle to work. 1 you can never tell what the weather is going to do 2nd the law of averages dictates that some @sshole is going to run you over at some point. Considering the general attitude of motorists towards motorcycles and cyclists its just not something I would chance.

When swimming at Emmerentia whats the story ? Theres the canoe club as well as the Tri club who operate from the same premises. Does one have to pay a fee, be a member ??? or is it a case of pitch swim and do your own thing ?

Ok so looking at the stats we should not cycle between 6pm and 9pm, thats kinda easy, and not ride over weekends or where there are motorists that are potentially under the influence of alcohol. Not so easy. In summary dont ride in the dark. Over weekends ride early in the morning before the masses wakeup and do so in a large group. Safety in numbers perhaps.

Hmmm the 1 reason I dont cycle to work and back is because my laptop weighs 3kg's. I cannot imagine lugging a laptop and water being at all pleasant.
