  1. so am I used to be a favorite in the soweto uprisings in days gone by. cops and army had to modify vehicles to prevent people from being decapitated
  2. Lookup the meaning of the word "sarcasm"
  3. I went to Cajees on Friday to sort out a brand new MTB rim that was a little egg shaped. The first kid that asked to help me swore blind that there was nothing wrong with the rim. The manager swore the same on the bible. All of them checked to see if the wheel ran true. None checked to see if there was a little hop in the rim. Clearly no one was listening. I insisted someone in the workshop check the wheel. Once in the workshop it then became obvious to everyone that there was in fact a problem. But besides this what I really wanted to comment about was the terrible workshop. It was absolutely filthy. There was not a square inch on the floor were there where no bits, parts or tools. To walk from end of the workshop to the other you had to walk over tools simply lying around every where. How the hell do you run a reputable bicycle shop with a workshop that looks worse than a sh#t house overturned. I can only assume the state of the workshop is a reflection of the people who work there and how they go about there daily lives and even how much they care for their clients. I'll tell you now Cyclelab workshop looks like a surgeons theatre compared to Cajees. I'll tell you something else I have found the prices at Cyclelab to be pretty good of late.
  4. while doing the cooking
  5. Hey thats my bathroom ! hey thats my .....
  6. Gives me a good idea for a new year project. Think what will do it will be a real funky spray job.
  7. I quote "No wetsuits, speed suits, fins, aqua socks, gloves, paddles or floatation devices of any kind allowed." Now this is my kind of race. Hard core. http://www.lagunaphu...hlon-rules.html oh I forgot "crawling is allowed"
  8. I saw some of the new Raleigh bikes at the 94.7 expo really good looking stuff
  9. I bought a new set of Shimano Ultegra wheels from a fellow hubber about a year ago for R2k. Cant say I was too impressed after a spoke broke and I had to replace the freebody ... HOWEVER I used them for the 94.7 this year and I was very impressed with the fact that I was still free wheeling half way up some hills when most other folks were hard at work. Downhills very impressive again I seemed to be much faster than most without too much work.
  10. dearest beloved ... I actually got to log off now or I'm gonna get zero work done today. Navy seals it is tomorrow morning 6am sharp
  11. +1000 I was considering running with a few old spark plugs in my hands or perhaps even a paint ball gun ...
  12. Perhaps you are an undesirable alien half-life character ....
  13. I also want to do Kona but all this talk of attacking, helpless wetsuitless victims and biting makes me worried let me know which year you going so I can make sure I go the year after . Either that or i'm going for some serious navy seal training before the race then we shall see who the helpless victims are
  14. Sounds like a terrible idea ! Beep beep here sharkie foodies time ! nom nom ....
  15. The only time I wear a wetsuit is when its damn cold. Example Joburg City Traithlong at germies and Bella Bella 5150. I can tell you the water was frikken cold. Without a wetsuit you are gonna @#$% boetie. Races like Harties and Sun City there's no way you see me in a wetsuit. Point here is a wetsuit has a very specific purpose and thats to protect you from getting hyperthermia. Its not a floatation device for novice swimmers. If you gonna rely on flotation devices to get you through a swim in a race then best you dont compete. What I do say is we need more staggered starts. What scares novice swimmers is having a thousand dudes all thrashing about in the water at the same time. Nothing quite like digesting the dude in front of you toe nails OR being run over by about 5 HOT chicks who started in the wave behind you
  16. ?? did'nt know either existed. Best not be beeping next to me in a race I might get irritated and ....
  17. I'm no pro I do 1500m in 30minutes in the open water. As a novice I was terrified of the swim part of the race. There's only only way to over being paranoid about the swim section and that's to go down to the pool regularly and do laps. Get a swim coach to help with stroke correction. Do lots of races. BSG specifically has short distances where you can build up confidence. The more events you take part in the more confident you will get. If crowds make you nervous wait for the main wave to start then follow. I do triathlon for the fun of it as do most people I know in the sport. I just dont think the exceptions you are asking for are practical.
  18. Good thing you asked about the 1 or 2 day thing. Would have been really funny to see the rather perplexed look on Garfields face on the day would he to find out he has to run 42k's in one day and not 2 days
  19. Wheres my xmas bonus
  20. Topics like this can go in the Multisport forum. Sounds like this could be really good fun. Are you one of the " elite Trail Runners"?
  21. The last time I got a bonus was in December 1999, my last permanent job, as IT manager working for a JV startup for 3 major players in SA. After working an equivalent of 3 years over a 2 year period and busting my b@lls I was called into the bosses office and was told they were extremely happy with me and gave me a R1500 cheque. I resigned the following month. In Dec 2000 I netted R75k working for myself yours truely. Must admit gauging from some of the comments on this thread there are some really arrogant directors out there with real f$%k y&u attitudes. Shame on you. I dont like people with bad attitude ...
  22. I have my old London Saracen MTB frame I listed for R200 in garage clearance the other day think I best adjust the price up seeing that the hangar is worth R450. Maybe I should try sell the hangar separately
  23. Is this what you are referring to "http://www.lynosport.co.za/". Looks kinda scary at my age I may never survive a "Bunkie" or "Stretch" test . Maybe I'll get a good looking therapist
  24. Pain is on the outside of the left knee feels like its just under the cap. I run fairly regularly. Mon, Wed and Fri (9k's plus 1hr swim) . Tue and Thu are cycle days 2hr session ea. lots of hills. Sat is day off and Sunday could be brick session or race depending on what's happening. Some days work or family stuff will interfere and those days are lost and I never try make them up so to speak. I have being doing the above routine for about 1 year without any issues. The distances are pretty much always the same as time is always a factor. What has changed over the last 8 weeks has been the increase in the amount of Aerobic and Lactate threshold work I have been doing which I am guessing is probably the cause. What prompted me into thinking I needed new shoes was I started to develop heel pain over the last 4 weeks especially the next day after a run but again this was probably just an indication of too much training. Anyway gonna make an appointment and go see some professional people and take a few weeks off and relax.
