  1. I did send you a PM. But here it is again. The pool itself is a 25m so decent and has about 10 lanes in total. Winter season no problem almost anytime. Swimming does not seem popular in the Winter not even amongst the Tri folks. Avoid post lunch swimming in the summer. Full of kids and coaches use half the pool. On weekends you need to get in early and finish before about 11am. During the week in the mornings is great 6am. Lots of Tri folks swimming laps together with 1 or 2 master squads. Water temperature almost always above 25. Just dont drink it. Fees are about R235 a season or R8 a session.
  2. Just checking on the TSA web site they refer to GNT members I'm assuming these are Gauteng North members ? So they get to pay R180 and if you are a non GNT member you get to pay R250. This kinda seems a little strange surely it should read TSA members R180 non-TSA members R250. Whats up with this or have I got it all wrong ?
  3. I noticed a number of large cycle groups. The ref had a great time blowing his whistle. I heard the ref did eventually stop someone for a time penalty, there were so many bunches I guess in the end he did not know where to start. Looked like some guys were training for 94.7
  4. Swim good PB, cycle very fast, run terrible. Thought I had the whole run through the golf course thing waxed by doing all the Kinetic night races. The big difference is the kinetic races are at night and Sun City was in the heat of the day, a major difference ! I see the race results are not available because of a issue with the timing equipment. I sincerely hope they did not loose the data ! How about the medal its so heavy you could use it as a weapon. Nice Though.

Why dont you join us at Sun City on Sunday instead. Its going to be a great day in the sun. Afterwards I'm going to catch some more sun lying on the beach at Santorini's drink some beer and spot a few of those hot tri chicks in Bikini's ...
  6. This is interesting. I suffer from the same problem but only on my left hand side and only when I ride my MTB. Roadie all fine. Motorcycle all fine.
  7. In the UK you cannot transport a bicycle on the tubes BUT can take bikes on all national rail routes. I would certainly classify Gautrain as national rail. Going from JHB to PTA is just like crossing from one country to another Seriously now the fact that they dont allow bicycles is very short sighted
  8. Seems I have it all wrong I thought 94.7 was a training ride ?
  9. So what we are saying is that I can blame me being so damn slow on my wheelset ? and that if I buy a set of these zipp 404's I'm gonna go like a boeing
  10. +1 "Forwarded for export" no status change in 2 days ! torture ! probably because its stuck in SA somewhere ....
  11. Just another way of "legally" screwing the country and taxpayer out of millions. I would love to see the names and beneficiaries of those awarded upgrade tenders as well as the ad-hoc cash deposits into the accounts of their ANC cronies. This kind of thing drives me .... insane :cursing:
  12. My weapons of choice for next summer is going to be a ultra light taurus 38 special, second best if I cant get a license will be a couple of D cell batteries, a knuckle duster, a tazor and perhaps some pepper spray as a backup
  13. Sad boet I got run off the road yesterday afternoon by a truck going up a hill on Robertbroom in Krugerdorp. It was either chew dirt or the trucks wheel and no one even bothered to stop and see if I was ok nor did anyone try stop the truck. WTF ?! If I had a gun I would have used it !
  14. +1 the good folk there know their business well and have really good prices
  15. Kinda makes the Argus look really insignificant ... together with all my training and effort as well
  16. I'm not a member of Cyclelab as yet but did a couple of recent club rides on Sundays to check things out. They provide a driver and van who has emergency spares if need be. There are also biker dudes who ride ahead and direct traffic at major intersections. You also get to ride with a group of 20+ riders making it very safe from bike jackers. Also you get to meet many people and training in a group can only encourage and motivate you to greater levels. There are at least 2-4 marshals for each group of riders who are tasked with ensuring everybody rides together, safely and obey the law. Count me in as a member for 2012.
  17. I used my wetsuit this weekend in the Linden public pool just to get used to swimming with it on. The water temperature was 25. Believe me if was no fun at all. After 20 laps the wetsuit had to come off I felt something like a crayfish being slow boiled I reckon if the temperature is anything over 20 there's no chance of me wearing it..
  18. This is all just getting completely out of hand. One of these days we are going to need armed escourts. I wonder if the biker dudes who ride with the cyclelab crowd on weekends are armed and if this in anyway scares off would be attackers. The other thing I would like to know is how many of these attacks take place during the week as apposed to weekends. I mostly ride alone during the week and that is definitely a concern.
  19. How is the livetracking going to work ? do you kit out riders with GPS receiver and cell phone ?
  20. Sorry managed to put this in wrong forum should have been Multisport not Rant n Rave. How do i move it ? Can I ?
  21. Is anyone doing some open water swimming practice in and around Joburg this weekend ? Just got my new xterra wetsuit. I was hoping to join in for some open water swimming this weekend. Hopefully someone can help with getting in and out of the suit ahead of next weekends Sun City event.
  22. Blowout no where near the valve and no CO2 bombs ever used ... tyres inflated to 7.5 . Max pressure for the tyre is 8.5
  23. So being a creature of habit I go into my local LBS 8 weeks ago and do the unthinkable and buy 2 Specilialized Pro tyres for my roadie cost R800. This is a deviation from using Conti Gators. Not quite sure what entered my mind when I did this but I think it had something to do with wanting a little more traction for those wet summer days up here in the highveld. The first blowout on the rear wheel took place about 2 weeks ago going down Krugersdorp hill at about 80km/h ... sounded like a gun going off followed much acrobatics etc trying to stay on the road. Then of course the very long wait for my wife to collect me. The second blowout, front wheel this time, took place yesterday afternoon on my approach to the climb up Krugersdorp hill, I do so love Krugerdorp hill, followed by a very long walk home. At 3pm in the afternoon my wife was busy with clients and could not fetch me. So anyway went to local LBS, blowing much steam, and handed in my 2 Specialized pro's with gaping tears in them along the pattern in the tyre. Must be manufacturing defect as in 20+ years I have never seen this happen. Now I got to wait for the supplier to "INVESTIGATE" before I get my money back or get replacement tyres. Lets not forget the R40 each for 2 tubes, many hours wasted waiting for lift and that long walk home not too mention not getting in those much needed training hours which you simply cannot catch up. Oh yes and last but certainly not least the potential of loosing ones life or ending up in hospital in a rather serious condition. And they are going to make this up to me how ...... ? So I suppose what I am trying to say is stick to your tried and tested winning combinations and when tempted to stray rom the straight and narrow think twice about the possible consequences ....
