  1. I see they mention bike gloves on the list BUT I dont see "Boxing" gloves mentioned anywhere ??
  2. I wonder what the water temperature will be like ? Germies was ice cold !!
  3. I'm not sure about the 6 weeks and if its possible to "plug in" somewhere along the program. i will ask the pro's and see what they say
  4. Two of the guys that work with me are training for Cape pioneer using the Polar cycle training program which is very comprehensive and is time and heart rate based. I think its a 16 week programme. Their improvement in fitness and average speed is remarkeable. The guys are currently doing 22km'h average speed on MTB's off road doing a 156km session !! if you interested PM me I will send you the "stuff". They also have a multisport training planner which i am using for triathlon.
  5. My apology ... I was just pulling your leg no malice intended I fully agree with you. You pay your money and if you arrive 15 minutes before transition closes then you should have a designated spot. I really liked the way 5150 was sorted every participant was given a number and your number had a designated spot in transition. No arguments or hassles. If the organizers want to accept late registrations then they should have a "late registration" area in transition. The one thing I was not entirely happy with was how people are able to simply walk into transition after the race and walk out with their kit. There was no control whatsoever.
  6. I wish I could get gym for R1500 a year ? As a non-medical aid contributor I get to pay big bucks if I want to do Virgin Active
  7. Yes this is especially true if you are training for events like BSG Prestige and have to get 5-6 hours of training in over the weekend. I have registered for most of the BSG races but am considering cancelling this coming weekend simply cause its too short and the combo polar and tri-fuel programme I am following is fairly demanding.
  8. Joburg triathlon very well organized, no complaints from me, if you arrive late well then you not gonna get a nice spot. Best you get up earlier Garfield I must get a wetsuit though froze my fricken nuts off in that water. I thought 5150 was bad but germies was really cold. It was so cold my body went into shock I almost had to get some help in the first 100m. Instead of doing a nice easy 30m in the water it took me 40 mins to finish
  9. I see the start time for the race on Sunday is 10h30. This means we gonna run in the heat of the day ! This is something that always gets me. I used to do my runs early in the morning then on race day I always wondered why I suffered so much on the run. I kinda figured its a heat thing. So I have changed my routine so my runs are always early or late afternoon to get used to running in the heat. So I guess we will see how I feel Sunday lunch time doing that 10k.
  10. Someone hit the Pause button, I need to go get more popcorn
  11. I have a current club membership with Troisport but the club is too far out - Sunninghill. I get zero benefit from the membership apart from the fact that they have all the relevant affiliations. If I want to participate in club runs and cycling etc I got to drive from Randpark to Sunninghill or Broadacres. It would be great if there was a local club where training sessions, group runs, time trials and cycle rides etc were organized. There is benefit to be had from training with other people. Its more sociable and you push yourself harder. It seems to me that my only real choice is to sign up with Randburg Harriers (round the corner from me) and perhaps Northcliff Cycles or maybe Cresta wheelers from a cycling point of view. I very much like the Cyclelab setup but again too far out. From what I can see on the TSA web site I still think the "No club" option is valid. Perhaps if I suggested it Randburg Harriers would even consider opening a triathlon section at some point in time. I did send Adrian an email so I'll see what sort of reply I get.
  12. I was wondering what all the other triathlon hubbers do when it comes to local club membership who live in and around Randpark Ridge. It seems to me there is a shortage of tri clubs close to where I live. TSA membership is up for renewal and they are politely asking what club you belong to.
  13. I would very much like to buy such a gene as I struggle with my pant all the time and end up in lycra far too often. I too very much like beer, pizza and all things mice but dont like dibs much especially page 14.
  14. Funny thing I was exactly in same position a few weeks ago and made the sensible decision to save the money for later. Then **** happened and today its nowhere to be seen let me think sick dog, teenagers, wife ... should have spent it when I had the chance.
  15. Did you order RIMS by any chance ? If so I would be very interested to know when all arrives what the duty was and most importantly did the rims arrive safely ?
  16. Watch out word mole I just found a new word "Etymology"
  17. YUCK
  18. Be careful about taking too many anti-biotics. Doctors prescribe them all the time for whatever and it is NOT necessarily a good thing. Your body needs to learn how to fight off these bugs etc on its own. This of course is not always possible. I never take anti-biotics. On Friday night I went down like a ton of bricks fever, sweating, sore throat, muscles, glands the whole number. Spent the whole weekend in bed sweating thinking there was something major attacking me. Woke up Monday morning feeling 95%. Sore throat gone, zero snotty nose, no head cold. Today 99% back to training. Another thing to be careful of is taking large doses of vitamins "C" especially when your body is not used to it. I find it has exactly the opposite effect. STRANGE but very true in my case. Friday was yet another case in point. Medically I cannot explain it I'm not a doctor but I been around the block a few times and am talking from experience. As previous hubber said you need to eat. Make sure its a balanced diet and yes some fat is good. Looking like an Ethiopian may make you lighter but its not a good thing. Boerewors rolls always sort this issue out Dont overdo training. Quality not quantity.
  19. Must say the "dibs" word is not my favorite word. Its kinda like a six gun shootout only to find out afterwards that dibs was shooting blanks and that if i had pm'd or called the seller direct anyway i might just have been the lucky buyer of the bargain. The quick and the dead ....
  20. So I just a bought a couple of things from a fellow hubber and would very much like to give the chap a recommendation BUT I see there are 2 columns "Best" and "Worst" traders. I noticed hubbers with a single thumbs up end up in the "Worst" column !! GASP !! So if the poor hubber gets a single thumbs up from me he could end up in the worst column and I would be not so popular for putting him there. So does it really mean that if you get a single thumbs up for possibly only ever selling a single item you deserve to be in the "Worst" traders column ? OR have I understood it all wrong ?
  21. ?? I must say I am very surprised to even be reading this type of thread or to even think there are people out there who do stuff like this perhaps i'm a little naive when it comes to my fellow cyclists
  22. Double decker buses are painted RED so they can be seen easier. The RED however does not mean the driver can see you
  23. Sounds interesting is there a link so I can check it out ?
  24. London 2007 - Finished my gym session one morning (close to work - very far away from home by train) tried to put my pants on then realized I was trying to put on my son's school pant I was somewhat larger than my son at the time
  25. Good to see multisport growing. Now what we need is a multisport tri-club in Randburg
